1. Do you remember the first story you wrote as a little kid?
Yes. The first story I remember writing was an imitation of the Time Machine by H.G. Wells. It was horrible, as I remember. Truly terrible. Then I tried to write an original story- I was 7 or 8- and it was called "Cloud Girls". That was interesting.
2. I see you live in Texas. What's the scenery like there?
Ah, the scenery of Texas. It is dry. We live in constant fear that someone is going to flick a lit cigarette out their car window and the entire county will go up in flames. It is dirty. You cannot go outside without getting covered in a light layer of the stuff. It is also very brown. We're almost suspicious of green grass, it is so rare.
3. What's your favorite movie?
3. My answer is different every time I get asked, so this time it's the History Boys. I found that movie when I was trying to decide between making money in my future and being happy in my life. The movie directly addresses that, and it sort of helped me realize that if I grew up poor and happy, it won't be so bad to be old, poor, and happy.
4. Has anyone ever caught you picking your nose in public?
...No? Well, I wasn't picking my nose, I was scratching my nostril. I looked up and this older man was staring at me. I skee-daddled, because you just can't pretend you're slick after that happens.
5. Do you have a favorite author here on Wattpad?
Hmm... I don't know. I'm inordinately fond of blondewitAbrain's drabbles. I love hellojello1313's fan fictions- especially the Outsiders based ones. I greatly enjoy AnAdventurer's poetry and other short pieces. But no one is my OTA (One True Author).
6. If you won Jeopardy! How would you spend your winnings?
I would go to school. It kills me that we don't have money to send me to my one and only Uni, but it's okay. We just weren't as prepared as we should have been, and as much as that hurts to read the tweets and texts of my friends who are out living their educated lives, I'm okay with being here and working on my writing and making meager wages at a restaraunt.
7. Have you ever hated a teacher on just a 'gut feeling'?
I always really disliked my colour guard coach. I got a terrible staff infection the summer I was in guard, and I couldn't go to the practices because my medication wouldn't let me out into the sun, and I couldn't sweat. When I finally healed up and got back into things, she was incredibly terse with me. I never really got proof for it, but I really felt like either she thought I was faking the infection (which is impossible to do), or she was treating me as if getting these massive, painful sores on my body was my fault. I still can't stand her.
8. What do you dream of being when you grow up?
I hope to one day be published. I don't know what it will be, especially because I don't think my poetry will ever really sell. But I also hope to get the screenplay that ksAnonymous and I are writing produced. It's an integral part of our plan for world domination. As far as truly "growing up", I have no idea. I'd like to be happy- remaining so should prove difficult, and I love a good challenge.
9. What inspired your username?
Ah, my username. In the book "The Devil's Paintbox" by Victoria McKernan, the main character is a white boy telling some of Aesop's fables to three Indians he has just met. In one of the fables, a grasshopper is described as being foolish for not preparing for winter, but instead playing his fiddle. The main character asks the Indians if he doesn't think that's foolish, and one of them replies "It is not a human's job to live long, but live well. If the Spirit gives you music, you live music, and if music becomes your death, then it is a good death." I realized that the thing that this Spirit gave ME was the power of words- hence, TheSpiritGaveMeWords.
10. What do you think is the best story you have written here on Wattpad?
I haven't written many actual stories here, but Tea For Two is still the best one. I love writing it, even when it fights with me. I love the characters, I love their conversations, I love the places, I love writing the descriptions. The other day, I wasn't really paying attention as I wrote, and a nameless, faceless, minor character stepped forward and was suddenly very fleshed out. I feel like, though I have it all roughly drafted in my mind, it is going to change a LOT before I finish this first physical draft. It surprises me to no end what this story has to tell me. There's a lot of love put into it, and that's not to do with how it's a romance. It is a girlxgirl romance, but it's not raunchy, and there's no smut. I refuse to write that. I won't pretend I'm above reading it, but I really just won't write it.
Anyway, Tea For Two is definitely my favorite
