Jeongin's POV

I was separated from the rest. In a world filled with heroes, I was nothing. I was the only person born without a power.

I was a healthy baby, there was nothing wrong with me and I rarely got sick. I just was not showing the usual signs of accidentally setting off my powers. My parents kept putting it off, referring to me as a "late bloomer" and worried very little about my inabilities. The real issues started to occur in Kindergarten, where we were placed in a certain classroom where you learned how to develop your abilities. All of my friends were sorted; some had telekinesis, some could manipulate water, some could even fly, but not me. I was placed in the "other" classroom.

This is usually where they place the misfits, or people with powers society deems "impractical". I was an outcast in a room of outcasts, and I felt more alone than I ever have.

My parents began taking me to different doctors, psychiatrists, even therapists to try and figure out what was wrong with me. It was always the same result. I was a perfectly healthy boy, with absolutely no powers. I was crushed.

My classmates referred to me as "The Glitch", and constantly taunted me for not being special. Big talk coming from them. At least I got decent grades and actually tried in my classes. Most of them are placed in my class for not applying themselves, hoping that putting a bunch of nobodies in a room together will solve anything. I hated them, but most of all, I hated being alone.

While I was sitting in my usual seat in the back of the class, trying to take notes and refrain from being noticed, a strange girl walked into our room. She claimed to be a transfer student from a different Academy, and since every other classroom was full, she was placed in this one.

I stared at her for a while. She was really pretty, but it was not obvious. She had a very subtle beauty that made her pleasant to look at, and unafraid to look away. I felt bad for her, being forced in a room with these dimwits was hard enough without having powers, I can not imagine what it is like to be actually talented, and still have to learn here.

The teacher motioned towards an empty desk near me, "Please sit over there next to Jeongin. Jeongin, please raise your hand," the teacher ordered me sternly, shaking me out of my thoughts. I lifted my arm in the air and she locked eyes with mine. Her lips curled into a half-smile and she began to weave her way through the desks to reach her new seat.

I turned my attention back towards the board and tried my best to ignore everyone whispering and throwing things at me while the teacher was not paying attention. I was also trying to ignore the new girl next to me, who seemed very content with staring at the side of my face. I guess I can not judge though, I did stare at her the whole time she was introducing herself. I felt my cheeks warm slightly.

The bell finally rang, releasing me from the classroom. Everyone hurried out the door to meet up with friends, but, as excited as I was to leave, I took my time. I did not want to be taunted by them on my way out from school as well, so I slowly packed up my things. The girl seemed to be waiting for me.

"Hey," she started, breaking the silence that hung thick in the air, "your name is Jeongin, right?"

I nodded, still working on packing up my book bag, and refusing to make eye contact. She smiled.

"Nice to meet you. I'm (y/n)." She said, extending her hand towards me, perhaps expecting me to shake it. I instead put on my backpack, choosing to ignore the vaguely attractive girl. She seemed disappointed, but continued to follow me out the door.
