*Your POV*

No one was supposed to know about us. We were to hide from the others, conceal our powers. No one was to know about our abilities.

Segregation was common amongst the typicals and the extraordinaries. The typicals were the ones with no special abilities. Yet, they dictated our lives. We were not allowed to use our powers in front of them, they must be kept under the illusion that magic did not exist. Typicals were creatures of habit. They are rarely accepting of each other, so how could they be accepting of an extraordinary? They destroyed anything that was not like them, which is why we hid.

We separated ourselves from them, living mostly in places that the typicals deemed uninhabitable. We developed an entire society underneath the feet of the typicals. Of course, we had some slip ups. Some people saw either what they believed to be a monster, or a fairy, and started to try and tell others of our existence, only to find their information falling on deaf ears. We watched the humans grow, violence following them like a sinister shadow all throughout their history. Very little was known about us, at least until the incident happened.

This is where I come in. I am the vegetation specialist of my section of Insula magicis, or Atlantis as it is known to the non-magic people. My title is pretty much a fancy way of saying that I grow the food and medicinal herbs for my community. We get assigned tasks based on our specialties. The leader of the sector is always the most powerful, in order to keep our community hidden. Those who can manipulate gases are the protectors of our walls. This is so they can hold up the bubble of atmospheric gases, separating us from the depths of the ocean. I can manipulate water and have a talent for biology, which is why I got stuck with this task.

It is more complicated then people seem to believe. Most believe my job to be a simple thing, when it actually requires a complex process of desalination of the available ocean water, temporarily breaking through the bubble of atmospheric gas provided by the protectors, and making sure that there is enough available minerals for the plants to grow. And of course keeping a sufficient amount of artificial sunlight, so they can photosynthesize. But I do not mind that people look down on my job. It allows me to live a more quiet life.

I usually enjoy keeping to myself. That is, until the boy showed up.

While I was busy trying to desalinate my latest supply of water for my garden, I saw a glimpse of something just outside the walls. This of course, raised my suspicion. Typically, the ocean life stayed away from our community. They feared our work, and wanted no part of it. I did not blame them.

I thought it first maybe a curious fish, or some other creature that lost its way, until it came closer. It looked like a body. A human body to be exact, which peaked my interest. It was a typical, wearing some dark black, body-tight suit with what I assumed to be oxygen tanks strapped to his back. He appeared to be unconscious, considering he was not swimming, and looked like he was almost floating. Against my better judgement, I broke through the bubble, letting him in to our community. No one visited me anyways, no one will have to find out.

I carefully removed his mask. He was a nice looking guy. He had really thick hair, dyed a deep blue, which complimented his skin tone nicely. He had very cute heart shaped lips that were parted slightly, hopefully suggesting that he was still breathing.

I took him back to my house, carefully removing the excess water from his lungs, hoping to save him. He coughed violently, eyes fluttering open, darting around the room in confusion. I placed an ice pack on his head, I was not the best when it came to treatments. He looked at me with a mixture of confusion and terror.
