"Jay, give it back!"
"Finders keepers!"
Jay was holding the last muffin over his head, laughing at you, as you tried to get it back.
"Give it!" you cried, reaching up to grab the delicious baked good.
"Woah there, (Y/n), I didn't know you liked me like that," he said teasingly as he pulled the muffin back, making you fall against him.
"I swear Jay, give it to me right now!" you hissed, and he ducked out of the storage room and into the hall. You chased after him, down the steps, out of the entrance doors into the yard, where dark clouds hung in the sky.
"It's just a muffin, no need to get so mad," he said mockingly.
"I saw it first, Jay," you told him, backing him towards the gate. "There's nowhere else to run. Give me the muffin."
"After you get on your knees and beg," he decided.
"No way!" you cried.
"Fine then." he opened one end of it's package, threatening to take it out.
"Don't you dare!" you said, taking a step towards him.
"Get on your knees," he repeated, an evil grin on his face.
"I'm not doing that, weirdo!" you retorted, lunging forward.
"Back away, before I throw it over the gate," Jay said warningly. You stopped in your tracks, sighing in exasperation.
"Just give it," you pleaded, holding out your hand.
"They probably have plenty of muffins at the Safe Zone. So it won't matter if I eat this one," he said, pulling it out slowly.
The Safe Zone. Sue had "found" the missing flyer in one of her notebooks, but only you knew where it had really been. The plan was to go tomorrow, and today everyone was supposed to be getting rest.
"I don't care, give me the muffin!" you shouted. You heard the entrance doors to the school open, as well as footsteps crunching on the grass.
"What the hell are you guys doing out here?" Zion grumbled, coming up to both of you. "It sounds like someone's being murdered."
"He took my muffin!" you cried, pointing at Jay.
Zion held out his hand. "Give me the muffin," he ordered.
"Aw, come on man," Jay complained, and when he saw Zion wasn't changing his mind he placed the muffin in his hand with a groan.
"Thank you, Zion," you said, holding out your hands for it.
"You're-" he began, but then quickly turned around, pulling his arm back.
"Wait!" Jay shouted as something big and white rolled by, something you hadn't seen in a long time. But it was too late.
"-welcome!" Zion said, throwing the muffin over the gate. It slammed into the white van that drove by, enough force to rock the whole vehicle. There was a screech of breaks and Jay backed away from the gate.
"Now you've done it," Jay said, eyeing the van warily. You didn't know who was in it, but you felt your heart begin to race, hoping it wasn't anyone dangerous.
The front door swung open and the last person you expected to see came out of the driver's seat. They walked up to the gate, frowning.
"Who threw that?" they asked, but then their eyes landed on you and their mouth opened wide in shock.
