(A/N: Been a while since you've
been here, hasn't it? I know this
chapter has taken forever - like
over a month - and I'm very sorry
about it. I was having extreme
writer's block and lack of motivation
for not only this story, but in my personal
life too. But fortunately, it's back,
and I'm so glad to see you all again!
Hopefully I'll go back to regular updates,
for real this time, so I'll see you
soon in the next chapter! 💕💕)~~~
In a place perfectly sheltered from the chaos of the apocalypse, you'd never think things would fall apart so fast, so easily. But the truth was, the disaster of the virus had already taken a toll on everyone's minds, breaking them down and turning them all against each other.
The dining room was full that morning, everyone too afraid to be on their own. Even Harry was looking grim, and despite him giving you an encouraging look when you glanced over, you could tell his heart wasn't in it.
You might've just broken down right there if Lawrence didn't look so relaxed.
He had an easy smile on his face, like everything was just how it used to be, and his eyes were bright; the exact opposite of how you looked.
Seeing the leader so unbothered by everything was the only thing calming your nerves. The air was thick with tension, but Lawrence didn't even seem to notice.
You looked up to see Laura pass by your table, just in time for her to flash you a nasty look, red and brown stains covering the front of her shirt. It didn't matter how many glares she gave you, though. She wasn't worth your time.
"What was that all about?" asked Lawrence.
You shook your head. "It's nothing," you replied.
Following behind Laura had been Felix, and when he came beside your table he froze. Slowly he turned to you, and you tried to look away casually, feeling awkward.
"(Y/n)," he said, "could we talk for a moment?"
You were taken aback by his sudden request. You and Felix hadn't spoken since his pen - or the pen supposed to be his - had come up. What could he want to say to you?
There was a moment of silence before Laurence laughed, the sound causing people to look over in confusion.
"What's so funny?" Felix scowled.
Lawrence wiped his eyes, regaining his composure. "The fact that you even bothered to ask that," he explained, smile unwavering.
"I didn't kill anybody," Felix insisted. "Just look at the evidence."
"For Christ's sake," Zion spoke up with an eye-roll. "A couple of missing bite marks and you're innocent? I'm not buying it."
"Whatever. I don't need your guys' approval," Felix scoffed. He turned away from Lawrence, going to stand in front of you. "Can I please talk with you, (Y/n)? Privately?"
You felt torn, not knowing whether to hear out what he had to say or not.
"Please," Felix said again, and pity washed over you.
"Alright," you relented, standing. "But only a few minutes, that's it."
Felix looked relieved, but your friends didn't seem too happy. Lawrence crossed his arms with a frown, and Harry was giving you a skeptical look.
Zion stood up, walking over to Felix, and your heart stopped for a moment. Even though Felix had to have been years older, he and Zion were eye-to-eye.
