Nine | The Debut
"One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight." Sohyun counted as we all matched the beat.
Our unified footsteps echoed on stage as we practiced one last time. The camera director spoke over the speaker. "Whenever it is the last chorus, make sure you look in camera three."
We had a rehearsal where the camera director showed us all the camera angles it was going to be in for our debut stage.
It had been a couple of weeks after recording our first song. We had recorded the rest of the three songs for a total of fours songs.
We were filming our title song and singing it live in front of an audience.
"What if no one shows up?" Nayoung asked as she jumped in place to get rid of her nerves.
"I mean, I hope someone at least shows up. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't though. We barely debuted." Aivy said as she stretched her hips to the side.
"We will just have to work harder." I said before it got quiet.
"Eun Mi, you have a visitor." Sohyun nodded off to the side. I sighed quietly when I turned my head to see who it was.
I took off my mic before walking off the stage. Standing there was a few members of NCT who I hadn't seen for about two weeks straight, including Mark.
After our little night together, I was with him for about a week. We had our personal space and kept our distance away from each other. We still talked normally for the sake of our fake image.
Emotionally we both knew to distance ourselves for the sake of us at the end of the contract, but that didn't mean we didn't have fun once in a while.
I wasn't sure if our fun would be good for us in the end of our fake relationship though.
I felt like we were entering a stage of friends with benefits since we had to deny any feelings. We couldn't get attached to each other.
When that week was over, the next few weeks was just rehearsal with his group. I wasn't needed so the company told me to stay away.
I was busy with getting ready for debut anyways. The company finally announced our debut date, which was today, to the world on social media.
It had caused some people to look forward to it since SM hasn't debuted a girl group for a while now. I knew the girls felt the extra pressure because of the expectations of others.
We needed fans to survive as a group.
"Happy debut day!" Chenle said as he rushed up to hand me flowers. I reached out to hug him before squeezing his cheeks.
"Thank you, Chenle." I said.
"Eun Mi, after this show, come back with us. Let's hang out with the '00 line." Jaemin said as he held my hand. He had his puppy eyes and had the smile on he used for his fans.
