Aurora remembered in time to text Dimitri that she was already in the dining room. Thank God, she did otherwise he would have looked all around for her made a big deal and when he did find her already downstairs, well nothing good would come out.
That being said, it felt like Aurora was going to prom with Cyrus. Her dress posed no problem, Cyrus was always in a suit plus they descended down the gilded stairs while HOLDING HANDS.
Her nerves began to kick in. The idea of meeting so many people who had every right to be judgemental over her and the fact that she still had to be respectful. T-o-r-m-e-n-t-f-u-l. She felt a hand squeeze hers just the slightest. Cyrus swept his thumb at the back of her palm. You would think he was holding a flower, Afraid he might crush it.
Now that touch definitely pulled some wires in her. It was unnerving how Cyrus had this effect on her. Aurora always knew how to keep herself separated from others. She was always cautious. Most of the world thinks her to be a very socially active, jolly person. Only the ones real close to her know that she is the opposite. Aurora is quite the charmer at social gatherings but at the end of the day she preferred her own company. Reserved, that was the word for it.
"You have nothing to worry about, Aurora." Cyrus looked down at her. His eyes carrying warmth.
She gave him a confused look.
"Your heart."
"Oh" she gave him a short smile. Vampire hearing you see.
"Yeah, I'm just a little
nervous" she mumbled.Cyrus meant it when he said she had nothing to worry. She was the most beautiful woman he had seen. The person who should worry, was him. He knew the kind of people that lived here. The unmated vampires especially, they would do their best to charm her. But he couldn't let that happen.
His small infatuation with Aurora was uncanny and unusual. After being over 400 years old, women were the last thing that surprised him or even caught his attention. He was fine, just the way he was. His company was perfect for himself. Being attached to a female, that to as fragile as her would only jeopardise his life, his kingship but-
Aurora seemed to defy all those things. The only girl to catch his attention in centuries, he was not letting her go so easily.
So when they got settled, Cyrus had to do everything in his power to not snap every man's neck in the room who dared to act familiar with her. To flirt with her. His eyes must have changed colour indicating the little party that he was not in his best mood. They all seemed to act cautious.
Dimitri sat next to Aurora. They seemed to be very close. Too close actually, all her lovely smiles directed at him. 5 more seconds and Cyrus would definitely break something.

"You surprise me miss Casper. I never expected Australians to be so mannered."
Mannered? Does this bitch mean that we are uncivilised. Everything was going just fine. The so called lords and ladies were behaving alright, hospitable even. Some of them tried to butter her up, obviously wanting to get in her pants or veins. Ugh. Others seemed genuinely nice. Then there were uptight bitches like her.
Lady Georgiana sitting opposite her.
Dimitri seemed ready to snap back with a snarky remark that would probably get them in trouble. Aurora put a hand on his knee. To stop him, of course.
"It's flattering you find me mannered lady Georgiana," she said with the most plastic smile on her face.
"But what exactly, did you expect me to behave like ? No, really what impression do Australians have on you? I'm curious."
"Oh well, you are kind of -savages-with a lack of better word. With the whole democracy crap-"
The nerve.
"Savage?" That was Dimitri. He shared a look with Aurora, a boom. The hall reverberated with their laughter.
"Yeah, you totes rock savage!" Aurora wheezed between her laughter at Dimitri.
They were supposed to be offended at first, but the idea-"Are you mocking me?!" Came Georgiana's voice. Her eyes were already dark and some flecks of red could be seen. Well, shit.
Sirens of danger started ringing in Aurora's head. Dimitri seamed ready to pounce.
"ENOUGH!"
That was the king's command. Silence, thats what prevailed.
Cyrus, passed a pointed look at that wretched vamp.
"Lady Georgiana, you seem to be done with dinner. Why don't you carry on with your work?"
Georgiana's jaw slacked, she couldn't believe her ears. But Cyrus' eyes were still on her. She couldn't just disregard his command. Passing a final dirty look a Aurora and Dimitri she went away with her vampire speed.
