Connor's POV

I looked as the lights went out. I looked around the empty room. What do I do now? I squinted at the words on the paper. I don't understand any of this. I pulled open the door and looked sown the hall where did Beth and Sam go?

I looked down at Trevor's room which was empty. I walked down the cold stairs and walked into the garage. Beth was looking around with her flashlight on her phone. I looked out the window and saw it suddenly rain.

"How am I going to practice?" Trevor whined as Beth grabbed him by the shoulders pushing him outside.

"You need a break go sleep, or eat go hang out with your friends."

"I don't have any friends." He said sitting down as Sam pulled Beth into the kitchen, Jackass. He would pull her away when her brother was talking about being friendless. I opened the door to the kitchen watching as it went silent.

Sam's hand was on Beth's thighs and their bodies were touching, of course he would. I grabbed a water bottle before walking back to the room. I don't want him dating her what does he not get about that? I grabbed a worksheet before squinting.

I crumbled the paper up and threw it onto the ground before laying back on the bed. I heard a door open and close but I ignored it and shoved a pillow in my face as someone laid next to me. The pillow was thrown on the ground and I was now forced to listen.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just peachy." I said sarcastically.

"Why are you mad?"

"Because." I responded thinking of a lie "We can't study with Sam here."

"Then I guess he has to go."

I heard her footsteps fade as she walked to where Sam was. I can't believe Sam would ask her out when I told him not to. I don't want to believe it.

I heard the door shut and Beth walk back up the stairs.

"Is he gone?" My voice was muffled because my face was still in the pillow.

"Yep." She said as she walked over to her bed and I felt it sink in next to me. I took my face out of the pillow but I was still laying down.

Beth looked over at me from where she was sitting.

"You sure you're okay?"

"Yeah. Just kind of dizzy." I said while tightly closing my eyes together.

"Do you need anything?"

"Nah. I'm fine." I said while sitting up. It was the damn dyslexia.

Beth got up and grabbed the crumpled up worksheet off the ground and tried to straighten it out.

"Why did you do this?" She asked while sitting next to me.

"Because I can't understand it. I'm so stupid."

"Connor you're not stupid. Now, do what you usually do and underline the words you can't read." She said giving me back the wrinkled paper. I can't believe she still had hope in me.

I took my pencil and underlined a few things and handed it it Beth. She explained the words and I finished the worksheet about an hour later. It shouldn't take that long for a stupid worksheet.

Bethany's POV

To be honest I thought Connor was actually a pretty good author for someone with dyslexia. I like to read the little short stories he writes. Sometimes there would be upside down letters and the wrong letters in the wrong places but it was overall pretty good.
