"Cats of DeathClan, there has been an incident. Strikepaw has been murdered." Brokenstar announced taughtly, listening to the stunned and outraged replied from the gathered clan cats. Once they settled back down for their leader, she began to speak again. "I'm angered as well. This is unacceptable, and Strikepaw will not go unavenged."
Brokenstar could hear the quiet weeping of Cinderheart as Flamestripe held her closely and Rockpaw and Moltenpaw huddled up against her. "Who could have possibly done this!?" Shadeflower spat from the rear of the crowd, her green eyes blazing with furiousity.
"Why, just because my brother hasn't made a move in seasons doesn't mean he doesn't still want his revenge." Brokenstar growled coldly, darkness shadowing her eyes. Her clan rippled with gasps and snarls of hatred at their realization of Wolfstar murdering their clanmate.
"We have to attack StormClan!" Heatstrike cried out with bared fangs and narrowed oculars, his fluffy orange tail lashing back and forth through the air. Brokenstar admired his bravery and courage, but he was too quick to jump into fights.
"Hold on, Heatstrike." The leader silenced the rising meows of agreement. "We need to be prepared for this. We shall attack StormClan, but we must train hard today. Harder than we ever have before. I have no doubt Wolfstar will try to kill during a battle, because he has no honor in the Warrior Code. StarClan will forgive us if we have to kill as a last resort." She paused to let her words hang in the dense atmosphere before continuing.
"Tomorrow, we shall attack StormClan at dawn. Today, we shall train past our limits. We all know Wolfstar hides his cats in the barn beside horseplace, so that's where we shall go. Now, Thunderheart come speak with me in my den. This meeting is dismissed."
Leaping down from the tree stump, Brokenstar watched her clan head toward the training clearing in the forest. Thunderheart picked his way out of the group and trotted toward his leader curiously.
"Yes, Brokenstar?" He tilted his head slightly, deep blue eyes glistening in the sunlight. The black she-cat nodded toward her den, and she led the way into it stealthly.
"I'm uncertain of the outcome of this upcoming battle, Thunderheart. Cats will die, I'm sure of it." Brokenstar revealed to her friend fretfully.
"Possibly, Broken. But Applestreak will be having kits soon, so a new generation of DeathClan will arrive soon enough. We just have to pray that StarClan won't be cruel to us. We will give it our all." The dark rosetted tom assured his leader brightly, a strong eagerness to fight clinging to his pelt.
"True, yes. I guess I'm afraid of losing a life... And losing Shadowpaw or Darkpaw; even Stoneforest. I'm also afraid of losing you, Thunderheart. You're a priceless friend." Brokenstar confessed openly, looking down at her paws. She heard her deputy released a warming purr, and he nudged her cheek with his nose.
"That means a lot, hearing you say that. But I'm not as afraid of losing you because you have nine lives, Brokenstar." He chuckled lightly, happiness glowing in his deep blue eyes. Brokenstar nodded slowly, then shook out her long pelt vigorously.
"Alright! Let's go train!" She pushed her way out of her den with Thunderheart following close behind. They raced out of camp and toward the training clearing.

~~~~~~
Brokenstar ducked as Thunderheart lunged at her, twisting her body around to meet the tom once he landed, and she knocked out his hindlegs with a strong blow with sheathed claws. Thunderheart yowled in surprise and collapsed to the ground, finding himself pinned belly-down to the ground by his leader. "You got me!" Thunderheart groaned in defeat, staggering to his paws after Brokenstar let him go. She started laughing in utter amusement.
"You're too ea-"
Before she could finish, Brokenstar was barreled into the ground by her friend, who snickered deviously. "Never let your guard down in battle!" Thunderheart grinned devilishly, his fangs glinting in the dim forest lighting. Brokenstar flattened her ears defiantly and released a playful hiss.
"You're gunna get it now!" She threatened light-heartedly, leaping toward the tom and twisting mid-air so her forepaws reached down and wrapped around Thunderheart's shoulders. She landed on his back with all of her weight, sending him buckling down into the grass again. She took her himdpaws and hammered his back with them, beaming evilly.
"If this was a real fight, you'd been done for! Ha!" I sure hope you survive this battle... Brokenstar rejoiced spending this precious time with her closest clanmate. Thunderheart growled through a tight smile, wriggling away from the black she-cat and landing a gentle blow against her cheek before jumping backward out of her reach.
"I believe we are evenly matched!" He retorted with a lash of his tail, the energy flowing like electricity through his slender limbs. Brokenstar gave a snort of disbelief and slipped toward the tom swiftly and gracefully, jabbing his flank on one side and twisting over his back to sink her sharp teeth into his scruff and drag him down again on the other side. Thunderheart gave an exasperated cry, clearly frustrated.
"You just don't quit, do you?!" He spat irritably before turning his body to plant his strong hindlegs against Brokenstar's chest. He heaved with all his might and launched Brokenstar into the air. She yowled in surprise, but managed to land on her paws a few tail-lengths away, whirling around to face the clan deputy.
"Why should I?" She snapped defensively, her red and blue eyes alive with fire. Thunderheart glared at her coolly, then after a few heart-beats the two cats burst out laughing. They drew near each other and rubbed noses affectionately.
"That was great practice, Brokenstar. We should do that more often." Thunderheart purred warmly, his whiskers quivering slightly. Brokenstar nodded and opened her mouth to reply, but another voice arose first.
"That was great, guys!" Stoneforest smiled friendily to Thunderheart, pressing up against Brokenstar lovingly. "StormClan won't stand a chance against DeathClan!" He boasted courageously, puffing out his white tabby chest.
Brokenstar exchanged a small glance with Thunderheart before agreeing cheerfully with her beloved mate. I pray StarClan will do us well, or else I'll lose my sanity. I've already lost so many ones that I loved dearly. How many more will StarClan allow to die untill I finally snap?
