"Sol?" Brokenkit echoed reluctantly, never letting her guard down once. Her eyes danced with his for a few moments before he gave a slight nod, his liquid-honey eyes glinting with a sly mystery. Wolfkit pressed against me, flexing his claws in the scattered needles that caked the grass.

"How do you know these other cats are vicious?" He questioned demandingly, narrowing his crystal oculars suspiciously. Sol closed his eyes briefly, remaining quiet until he had taken a deep breath and reopened his two golden spheres.

"Those cats have harmed me in more way than one." His voice was alluring to Brokenkit, and she found herself leaning toward the colorful tom cat. "I tried to help them, but they all threw me out." He seemed so casual talking about his situation, like it didn't bother him at all. But before he could continue there was a rustle in the nearby foliage, and Bloodkit emerged from their depths, carrying a very plump frog and two plump mice. He stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of Sol, dropping his catch. Then he arched his back and let out a menacing hiss, seconds away from lunging at the older tom.

Brokenkit jumped in front of her older brother and yowled hastily, "Bloodkit, no! He isn't a threat!" She watched as her littermate slightly relaxed, never taking his chilling blood irises off of the strange cat as he took a step back.

"What does he want?" He growled coldly, his dark tail-tip flicking vividly against the grass blades, making them twitch along. Brokenkit stepped aside and glanced at Sol, but Wolfkit answered for him.

"His name is Sol! He's telling us about the other cats that live really close by. Brokenkit and I found their scent lines!" He blinked at his broad tabby sibling, waiting for the grouchy tom to scold them for wandering off and getting into predicaments again. But Bloodkit continued to stare Sol down with a hard glare.

Sol seemed amused by the little cat's defensiveness, curling his patched tail in delight. "Fiesty little one, aren't you? You'd make a good clan leader. You have the names of the cats, but too bad they'd kick you out in a heart-beat. They are heartless cowards." He sneered, a smug look painted onto his broad, triangular face. The three young cats listened to him intently, eagerly wanting to hear more from this mystical cat. Maybe he knows what happened to our parents! Brokenkit hoped silently, gazing up into the seductive honey irises.

"But I however have lived among them for a short while. I can teach you their ways and maybe one day they'll realize you are perfect for their little civilizations. Maye even... Better than all of them?" Sol offered openly, bowing his head respectfully. Bloodkit took a step forward, his eyes still narrowed as he struggled with whether he believed the multi-colored tom or not.

"How do we know you're not going to trick us?" He scowled disapprovingly, his miscular shoulders tensing up as he fought an inner battle. Sol sniffed indignantly, lashing his tail once.

"What would I have against three little kits that are obviously out on their own. I can raise you little ones into fierce fighting warriors." He flashed his teeth in a grin, causing Bloodkit to drop his guard completely as he gaped at the strange tom in wonder. Wolfkit and Brokenkit beamed and grew very excited. Finally, a parental figure to help guide them into a brighter future. Brokenkit couldn't help but feel a little shakey about this cat's intentions.

There's still something about this cat that seems... Off. But it's probably nothing. He will make us strong. I hope...
