January 3rd was my birthday it was a normal Thursday and I just went out with some friends it was ok, Shawn was in London unfortunately so I couldn't celebrate with him but he called me and wished me a happy birthday, he'd be home soon, I went to dinner with my family 20 felt great.
Being back in Toronto was amazing I missed it, I have to be honest leaving my home again was hard but I had a life here now but I would have contact with my family which was amazing and I would visit them.
I was still working at the cafe, still doing my college course and everything is going great, I'm nervous, why? Well because I'm about to meet Shawn's son for the first proper time and it's scary, Shawn has been spending time with him a lot which i am fine with. But also am going to meet his family.
I really do want to marry Shawn, but as we said in new York, we have to tie up our loose ends to have nothing that can pull us apart.
It's 1:55 and I'm in class about to finish up I got a text from Shawn that he'd be collecting me from college to head to his family's home which was a little over a half hour from my school things were great with Shawn, when I wasn't at home or in work or college I'd be with him ,he did mostly night shifts which means I got more time with him but he was tired so we'd watch movies and fall asleep,sex was good too Shawn was amazing and made me feel amazing.
Class was dismissed as I gathered up my books and headed for the door I immediately saw Shawn's car as I walked out of the building and smiled from ear to ear I hopped in the passenger seat and kissed Shawn's cheek ,he looked at me and smiled"hello to you too, someone is happy" he chuckled ",well there's a lot to be happy about" he nodded and kisses me on the lips soft but passionately. Shawn was wearing a casual outfit wearing black jeans a black sweater and his denim jacket which I sometimes steal.

5sos was playing at medium volume on the radio and we settled in for the drive talking about our day and anything interesting we heard,seen. We sang along to the radio and the drive seemed to fly in as we pulled up to Shawn's childhood home I suddenly started to get anxious and nervous but was reassured by Shawn taking hold of my hand.
I remember I had briefly met Shawn's parents and sister before.
Alliyah answered the door she was stunning definitely some good genes in that family she was really sweet I didn't know if it'd be awkward as we're the same age but she really liked me and we instantly get along as she pulls me in for a hug "hi Lydia so nice to see you again" "you too I love your jewelry" "oh thank you I actually made it myself" "what that's amazing you are so talented" .I say hi to Manuel and Karen, having a lot in common with Karen as she's British and I'm Irish she was making a roast dinner which I missed and haven't had since I was home , Manny was really charming I can see where Shawn got it from.
It had been about an hour now being 3:30 when the door rang , we had just been talking and getting to know eachother.Shawn and Manny were talking about football teams and Alliyah was helping her mother set the table so I instinctively went to answer it which I instantly regretted when the door opened.
It was Cynthia (Shawn's ex) and Ryan (Shawn's son) I looked at Ryan and back up to Cynthia "hey I'm here dropping Ryan off I'll pick him up at 6 can you tell Shawn" I stood speechless,I'd never talked to her "ok,go into dad I'll see you later be good ok" she ruffled Ryan's hair and he can past me into Shawn ,I looked back up and started to close the door " hey, Lydia,i- I know Shawn told you about me and, well he told me a lot about you your a smart woman and I know Shawn loves you very much, I just, we'll be seeing a lot of eachother and I would love it if we got along " she smiled "that would be nice" .
I walked into the kitchen and Shawn was playing with Ryan and Alliyah it was weird having Shawn be a dad but I had to get used to it, for the rest of the night we talked had dinner, played boardgames and enjoyed ourselves, I knew we would and will always get along. Our loose ends were tied
