Leila heads off to school and sits through her usual classes. She learns a bunch of crap that she will never use. Leila doesn't really care about school. She has ideas of college and jobs. She doesn't know exactly what she wants to do. She gets her lunch and grabs fries for Nathan because she promised she'd buy them for him. Leila eats and then heads to the rest of her classes.

Nathan wakes up and does his usual stuff. He doesn't people watch today because there is only one person he wants to see, Leila. He wants to stare into her icy blue eyes. He wants to feel her long brown hair. He wants to taste what school fries taste like. This is what Nathan has been dreaming of ever since he's been in the hospital. Nathan has always wanted a friend who could tell him about what real life is like. He wants to know about school, real food, and other normal teenage things. He watched TV so the time would go faster. Nathan was so excited to see Leila and have normal fries and to hear about her day.

Two hours pass by and Nathan didn't feel very well. He assumed that he was hungry because he never ate breakfast and it was 3:00 in the afternoon. He called his nurse to come and bring him food so he wouldn't have to get up. She never came to see what he needed. Nathan got up and began his walk to the elevator. That's the last thing Nathan could remember doing because he passed out in the elevator.

Leila walked into the hospital right at 4:00. She told the nurse where she was going and the nurse told her that she would have to head home. Leila refused to leave until she saw Nathan try one of the school french fries. She didn't want to miss something so important to him. The nurse said if she didn't leave she would call security. Leila was astonished by the nurse's actions. Leila would not, so the nurse made her sit in one of the chairs in the front lobby. SHe said if she won't leave then she could wait there until Nathan could be visited.

Six hours passed and Leila was still sitting in one of the chairs in the lobby. She was hungry and tired. She has two tests at school tomorrow that she has to study for. She has a lot to do before she can go home and sleep. The nurse sat in the chair beside Leila. She told her she might as well just leave. She has important things to do and visiting hours were over. Leila still refused to go home. The nurse gave her $20 for food and told her that she could sleep on the couch in the lobby if she really doesn't want to leave. Leila accepted the nurse's money and headed to the elevator to go to the cafeteria.

When Leila woke up it was time for school, but she wasn't leaving until she knew that everything was alright with Nathan. She has only met him in person once, but she thinks about him almost every minute of every day. He is her inspiration to get good grades now. Now that she knows what he's going through she wants to do her best for him, she wants him to have something to look forward to hearing about.

Leila walked up to the reception desk and asked to see Nathan. She was told she could go see him really quick because he is resting.

Nathan woke up in a hospital bed, that wasn't anything new. He looked around to see doctors everywhere, but no Keith or Leila. He realized she never brought him his fries. He asked one of the doctors where Leila was. The doctor explained that she wasn't allowed up to see him. "What's happened to me?" Nathan asked the same doctor.

      "You collapsed in the elevator."

"I know that. But why did I collapse?"

"You were lonely, that's why. It looks like you were very depressed and lonely because you were sitting here by yourself. We need to have someone come to visit you."

"Then you should have let Leila come up then."

"Relax, she's on her way up now."

The next thing Nathan knew was Leila walking into his room with a container of school fries in her hand. She sat in the chair next to the bed while all the doctors cleared out. "They wouldn't let you come see me? Aren't you supposed to be in school?"

"I came here yesterday after school at 4 as I said I would and they wouldn't let me up here. I slept on one of the couches in the lobby. I wasn't leaving until I knew that you were ok."

"Shouldn't you get to school, though?"

"No, my whole day is dedicated to hanging out with you. School can wait until tomorrow." Nathan smiled and they continued talking.
