"Oh no..." I whisper.

"Alex, we're so sorr...," Lilith looks at me.

"My manga!" I cry.

They both look at me like I'm insane, "What? That shit is expensive, it was the only thing I had left in my room. Anyway, we should head back to the road and make sure that the firefighters have been called, we don't want to deal with a forest fire."

They both choose not to say anything and we move quickly down the path, when we come out we see a helicopter already flying overhead. We walk up to the car where Eve and Tabitha are parked, they rush from where they lean against the car. Eve and Tabitha pull the three of us in a big hug, it's pretty awkward since limbs are everywhere and I'm already tired.

Eve speaks first after pulling away, "We were so worried when we heard the explosion, we called the firefighters right away."

"Thankfully they were already out and getting ready to do a practice run, so their response time is good but we should leave before the police and stuff show up. Everyone will talk when we get back to the house." Tabitha says ushering us into the car.

We all hop in, Tabitha at the wheel and Eve beside her, I crawl in the back and sit in the middle. I sigh and rest my head on Envy's shoulder and he pulls me close lightly combing my hair with his fingers. He takes tight hold of my hand with his free one and rests in our laps, I glance at him from the corner of my eye. His jaw is clenched and I can hear his heart beating very fast.

I lightly squeeze his hand and close my eyes just for a second. It then clicks.

I open my eyes and turn to Envy, "You can't feel the bond can you?"

"No, I can't." He squeezes my hand, "From the beginning, I..., only got faint feelings and a few scattered thoughts that never made sense to me. But a few hours before you woke up the connection was completely cut and I thought you'd died."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"It's alright we'll talk more when we get home."

We fall into silence, the only thing I can hear is Envy's heartbeat, it's strangely comforting. All the way back I also notice Lilith holding my other hand. We eventually reached the house and everyone hops out, I slide over and attempt to get out of the car but instead my legs collapse beneath me. Envy catches me in time and picks me up, cradling me princess style, I sigh, still exhausted. We head into the lounge room and the only person left in there is Fang.

"Hey, you look like shit," Fang says smiling at me.

I laugh as Envy sets me down on the couch beside him, "I know, I've certainly had a long day and I haven't even been up that long."

Our shoulders lightly touch so I can feel it as he chuckles softly. Lilith, Tabitha and Eve head upstairs to deal with some paperwork or something. Envy leaves after checking I'm alright since there have been vampire sightings at the edge of town, so he has to go and help out. Fang and I sit in a comfortable silence for a little while before I decide to break the silence.

"Hey, Fang?" My voice is soft as a light rainfall begins outside.

"Hmm?"

"How long was I asleep for?"

"A few days, I knew you'd wake up though but when Envy came down to say he'd lost the connection completely everyone thought the worst. Especially at several points, you started bleeding, once at the neck, we bandaged it but it healed right away. Then your hand which if you haven't noticed it's still wrapped. You were in a complete sleep, comatose Eve called it I think."
