Jude Reynolds the middle child of Carl Morgan's nephews and niece sat behind the wheel of his fast car his eyes focused on the road that was taking him to whole foods whilst his mind was contemplating and kicking his insides for still caring. He cared that Gideon had left without a word at the party more than that it had hurt him, possibly bruised his heart even when he knew he had no right to feel that kind of pain or attachment to the former athlete.

They were sleeping together, that was it period.

They hadn't discussed anything beyond that boundary of whatever it is they shared. Nothing has been promised to him even in passing. Jude had cursed himself enough times after the party for reading the signs wrong, Gideon would never settle for him.

Zero was naturally talented, wildly gorgeous, a catch to all genders. He was well-spoken, tough, kind, well mannered, talented  and again highly driven enough to fight through his dyslexia and the jock stereotype. Next to Zero Jude felt less than be cause he thought all he had to offer were his looks-and everyone knows looks are fleeting. His excellent academic qualifications had only came because he was nurtured...privileged really by his environment. And endless culture form from being around the no nonsense Uncle Carl and caring Linda.

There was no way Zero would settle for him Jude thought with a finality. The thought sat in the molten pit of his stomach as he parked in the lot and locked the car striding for the grocery store.

Even after all the shopping he'd done, he was still berating himself for caring. He'd come here with the intention of picking up cat and dog food yet here he was three full grocery bags in his cart and two were full of basic domestic necessities he knew Gideon would neglect to keep for himself. After all the trouble he'd had to go through at night he reasons it was more beneficial to his health if he could sleep easily knowing that Gideon were at least well fed.

"Jude Reynolds?" a soft delicate familiar voice asked from behind him

"Mrs. Bennet, How are you?" he smiled outstretching a hand to her but she leaned in for an awkward hug instead "I'm so glad I ran into, how are you dear?" she asked with a tilt to her head, and fixed her glasses.

He laughed not knowing what to say, was he glad he'd run into her too? And how was he?

"I've been very well, that's a neat sweater" he complimented the woman who was yet again adorned in her pristinely pressed camel pants. An off the rack camel Vince Mulato sweater wrapped around her slim neck and matching Channel loafers.

She smiled as her gaze appraised his Vince Mulato office apparel; he felt better thinking back to their first meeting when he was casually adorned in generic thrasher streetwear.

"I see you were getting groceries for you and my favourite boy?" she spoke nodding at the groceries that were now sat in the back seat. The collection of expressions that sat on her face implied that she thought that he was with her son. As in exclusively together but before he could correct her she spoke again an octave louder voice spiced with an undeniable authority in her cream tone. "I was going to call you but my son refused with your number. Would you like to go have coffee with me?"

There was no way he was going to refute that offer even if he wanted to. The woman was scary and she she didn't look like she received declines often.

They walked in the coffee shop the air was filled with the aroma of grinding coffee beans and the brewing warmed it fit for the afternoon and show of humility Esther was about to put in the conversation with her son's boyfriend.

"Hi, welcome to Obsidian's what would you like to have?" a chipper familiar waiter broke her trance of thought.

Esther replied, "You got a name darling?"
