The rest of the week flew by. I started to become more famliar with my way around school. I didn't have many friends but I didn't mind. At the end of each lunch period, Luke would come say hello to me. I would reply with a 'hey' and we would be off to our classes.
Tonight was friday, I wasn't going out so I went to bed early. As I started to drift off, I heard something.
"Shit." Kyle said trying to keep his voice down but I still heard it. He was half out the window, his other half struggling to get out.
"What are you doing?" I questioned. Tina was asleep by now. I gave him a questioning look and he sighed.
"I'm going out" He said still trying to get his other half out the window.
"Where?" I asked.
He didn't answer.
"I'm not going to rat on you just tell me" I pushed him to answer.
"To a party." As soon as he said that an idea hit me.
"Can I come?" I asked already knowing the answer.
"No," He scoffed.
"Let me come or I'll go wake Tina." I said as a threat.
"Fine, come on" He said finally getting his other half out and started climbing down to the ground.
I quickly got changed and leaped out the window. It wasn't a high jump but Kyle's eyes widened with amazement.
We walked for a while until Kyle pointed to a house. We walked in separately due to Kyle's stupid reputation. I didn't notice anyone famliar so I just went into the kitchen and got a drink.
I made my way to the living room where the majority of people stood laughing and dancing. Most of them drunk doing things they'll regret in the morning. I on the other hand was alone. I soon regretted even coming here. I knew no one. I headed outside to get some air.
I sat up against a wall of the house. Not many people were outside but I enjoyed the nice September breeze.
"I thought you said you don't do parties" Luke approached me, two drinks in his hand.
He handed one to me but I declined.
"I don't. I don't know what I was thinking." I said honestly.
He sat down and I joined him on the cold concrete.
"You look great" He said with a sly smirk. I smiled and nodded my head avoiding his compliment.
After a moment of silence, he spoke again.
"Who did you come here with?" He questioned. I didn't know whether to tell him the truth or just say I came by myself. I knew Kyle would be pissed but I didn't care at this point.
"Kyle" I said and a look of pure shock filled Luke's face.
"You're with him?! Him?!!" He said with a confused tone.
"We aren't a couple" I said with disgust in my voice.
"He's such an asshole. You shouldn't hang out with him" Luke said concern in his voice.
"I don't, trust me. It's complicated" I said. I didn't want Luke to know Kyle and I lived in the same house so I ended the conversation there. I knew he was confused but he didn't seem to care much after I reassured him I don't hang out with him.
I gave in when Luke offered me the drink the second time. And after more than a couple we were drunk.
"So, you never told me why I can't call you Sam" He slurred. I cringed at the nickname. Feeling brave from the alcohol I went with the truth.
"My mom used to call me that." I said truthfully, he didn't seem phased.
"And I can't call you that cause ...?" He obviously wanted to call me Sam for some unknown reason. Telling him would lead to a lot of explaining. I know I could trust Luke but I didn't want to have to explain my past.
"Because I said so. You can give me a new nickname ..?" I said with a giggle and he smirked.
"I have a lot of things I'd like to call you" He spoke with confidence in his voice.
"Then do it" I said clearly as Luke leaned in I heard a voice call me.
"Samantha, the cops are here! We gotta go" Kyle grabbed my hand and pulled me up. Luke whispered an almost inaudible 'shit', but I still heard it.
I left with Kyle and when we got home, a mad Tina was staring right at us as we walked in the door.
