B I R D S   S U N G ,

Trees waving as the cold breeze hit them. Leaves crunching as they were stepped on. Water sounding from afar from the river beside the Byers' house.

Mike's heart was pounding as he halted to a stop as he saw the piling of logs that was making the makeshift place, Castle Byers.

His breath was wavering before him and he took a breath out, exhaling to stop himself from shaking.

He could hear his breath. It was loud. Louder than his heart pounding in his chest.

He closed his eyes slowly, taking another breath in then out, hearing the small chirping of birds from above him, hiding behind tall trees.

He felt ready now.

He opened his eyes, slowly staring at the small walk he was about to make.

With the small song the birds played with their voices, he stepped forwards, walking straight to the hole he didn't want to fall into.

Mike's arms swayed as he walked, slowly touching his pockets as he felt the content slightly crumple inside.

Mike smiled internally as he stared at the leaf covered ground, still continuing his path towards the small house.

The only content in his pocket brought him joy and sadness at the same time. He didn't know how but it did.

Slowly but surely he was only a few inches from Castle Byers.
