"And the last horse crosses the finish line" I smiled, walking in with her. The person who had unlocked the door quickly locked it again, watching Sami and I as we walked away. I walked to a side room that was decorated with a large desk and comfortable swivel chair- my office.

I sat down, resting my legs against my desk and crossing my ankles. I stretched out, smiling. "Welcome home" I said, looking at Sami "take a seat, I don't bite"

Sami sat down awkwardly, her fear of me returning quickly "what do you want..?" she murmured quietly, looking to the side.

"oh, that's simple" I smiled, looking down at her "and I already have it, too. You, Sami. You're who i want".

She blinked for a moment, glancing at me before looking down again "what are you going to do to me?" she murmured.

"You make me sound like the villain" I said, rolling my eyes "besides, if I told you everything, that would ruin the surprise, wouldn't it?"

Sami didn't reply, looking down. I stood up, walking behind her and putting my hands gently on her shoulders. She flinched at my touch but I ignored it "you're going to be so powerful" I whispered, moving closer to her ear "everyone will shake at your name, let alone your presence. You'll never have to work a dead end job again".

Sami still didn't look at me "I don't.. I don't want to be feared" she murmured softly, as if she were scared to say the wrong thing "please.. I'll stay here with you, but don't make me do anything bad".

I sighed, letting go of her shoulders and sitting on my desk so I was looking down at her "you seem to think you have a choice" I said in an almost reassuring tone "Sami, you'll be untouchable, unkillable. Doesn't that sound spectacular? Think about it, really think. How many times have you wanted to slap some of the drunks who wouldn't stop bothering you? Imagine being able to not only do that, but kill them too".

I got up from my desk, putting a hand under her chin so she had to look at me "Don't you want that?" I asked.

Sami looked up at me, small tears forming around the corners of her eyes "I just.. want to go home" she murmured quietly, tears starting to roll down her face.

"Don't cry" I said, wiping her eye with my thumb "you can't cry around here. I'll help you with everything you need, alright?"

In truth, I was starting to regret my decision to seek her out. She was.. weaker than I thought. And yet, I still felt a strange bond to her. What was it? I just need to make her more confident, then it'll all work.
