From then on, it was a fairly average day. Maybe a little boring, even. I made sure everyone who was gambling online was profiting, and everyone who owed us money paid. And true to her word, Sami followed me everywhere I went. A couple people asked about her, but not many.
Some time in the late afternoon however, the fairly relaxed atmosphere was abruptly disrupted by echoing gunshots. I tensed, pulling out the handgun I kept on the inside of my blazar almost immediately. I looked at Sami, who looked like she was about to pass out.
"Lock yourself in my office" I said quickly as several of my men ran out the front door, the gunshots getting more frequent "don't answer to anyone".
She nodded, quickly running off. I joined my men outside after watching the door close. I knew who it was- our rival gang. They were more bloodthirsty than me, but not by much. I had six rounds in my gun, and shot until it was empty. Fuck. I hadn't been hit, but if I didn't get more bullets soon, I would be.
I quickly ran back inside, glancing at my office door. It was open. "Shit-!" I hissed to myself, quickly loading my gun before sprinting into my office. Sami was on the floor, bleeding.
No! No, this wasn't supposed to happen! I quickly fell to my knees next to her, rolling her onto her back. I put pressure on the wound in her side, shaking slightly. Why was I shaking? No, I didn't want her to die, I needed her to live.
"No, get up!" I yelled to her pale face "stop it, you're going to be fine!"
I stayed by her for what felt like hours. The gunshots had long since stopped, and I could hear people yelling in pain from bullets getting pulled out of them then getting their wounds cauterized. I eventually picked Sami up, bringing her to the various people who knew how to fix the wounds.
I put her down on one of the cots, staying by her side as one of my men took out the bullet and patched the hole.
After a few minutes, one of my two second in commands, Wendy, walked up to me "ma'am, they've ransacked your office" she said, looking down at me.
I stayed quiet for a bit "what did they take" I eventually said, looking at her, a slightly cold expression on my face.
"Everything they could" Wendy said, shaking her head "this might ruin us".
"But it fucking won't" I hissed, starting to get pissed. Not at Wendy, but at everything that had happened "just clean it up, and stop wasting my time".
Wendy blinked for a moment before nodding and walking away quickly. I sighed, looking down at Sami "please don't die" I said quietly, watching her breathe lightly.
I promised you would be unkillable. You can't die.
