Steve
I had been driving for hours with this psycho. Well, he had been driving. Never let me touch the steering wheel at all.
Usually, I didn't get this annoyed at anyone, I just kept telling myself that people had the right to emotions, to mood swings. But Tony was just one giant mood swing. So frustrating that I had to ignore his constant talk too many times to count. Had to count to 100, and then back again. Breath in, breath out. Then, look out the window. And then, if I got really angry, I would say something back, most likely something that I regretted.
I should have chosen someone else to be my partner. Like Loki. He would have been less annoying. I mean, Maeve or Nat can deal with Tony. They always know the right words to throw back at him. Would probably enjoy it, too. But me, I wasn't the type of person that found delight in playing with people's minds. I was too aware of feelings, too aware of what I said, mulling over words before I said them, always.
Aware that whatever I said to someone, could be the last thing I ever say to them. Like with Bucky. Like with Peggy. Like my parents.
" We've been driving for ages, Capsicle, still no sign of the Slytherins"
" I don't trust Loki to keep whoever attacked them at bay while Maeve leads us to the fight." I said, first words in at least an hour.
" Who would trust a guy like him? I still can't believe we actually forgave him for what he did. He should be in an Asgardian prison, rotting away with the other criminals"
" Maeve said that he would be useful with finding the Sceptre. He knows the most about it. Has wielded it"
" And you trust Maeve? I don't know what they're both up to, but they've got a plan and it's not good. We should never have let them meet in the first place"
" I think everyone should get a second chance to redeem themselves. But... I don't trust them either."
" Of course we shouldn't. Loki... he very nearly destroyed New York. Nearly killed thousands of people" Tony mumbled over the sound of a donut in his mouth, bought from a drive through a couple of hours ago.
A couple of minutes passed. " I can't help thinking... if the Other is as powerful as Loki made him out to be, maybe he did mind control Loki. Make him act on his wishes to be a ruler." I murmured, deep in thought.
" I think you're forgetting that Loki was evil in the first place. Did you even hear what he did to Thor?"
" What did he do? "
" He banished him to earth, knocked Odin unconscious, and took the crown for himself after he heard that he wasn't an Asgardian. In fact, apparently he's from another world. After he lost a fight with Thor, he went to Thanos and The Other, making some sort of deal with them. They gave him the Sceptre, and the rest is history"
" Who did you hear this from?"
" Thor himself. Although, he'd been under the influence." Tony said, taking another donut.
" Of course"
Tony swore, colourful and creative. " I need to get my suit back. If we're going to have a chance against Thor and the Hulk, we need the Iron man"
" I don't want to risk sending your suit to this location"
" You really think I'm that stupid, Capsicle? I'm not going to send it to this location, but I've already got some of it on me." he opened his hand, revealing some sort of bracelet, faintly glowing blue. He pressed onto it with a finger, and it unfolded, forming itself into iron man's metal hand.
