Chapter 9- Snape's Explanation

Harry's POV:

I didn't know what this meant or what the spell that he had done was but it decided to listen to his explanation.

"What does this mean? The muggles that I've lived with my whole life never explained our world to me." I asked with a sigh.

"The Patronus charm creates a spirit guardian that is the primary protection against Dementors. Dementors are creatures that fead and drain the peace, hope and happiness to of the air and the people nearby. If you get too close to a Dementor it can take all you happiness and leave you soulless. This is called the Dementor's Kiss. Each person has a different animal for their Patronus but if you truly fall in love with someone it will change to be the same as theirs." Professor Snape explained.

"And is that your original one or is that the same as your love? And how does this affect me?" I asked as for I was curious why he was telling me of all people.

"Well I never knew my original patronus because I fell in love at a very young age."

"Whose is it then?"

"A girl that I have loved since the first time I laid eyes on her. She was muggle born and didn't know she was a witch yet so I explained our whole world to her. But when we both got to Hogwarts she was sorted into Gryffindor and I was sorted into Slytherin. We slowly parted though me love for her never died." Snape stopped for a breath then quickly returned to his story. "She soon fell for another boy in Gryffindor. After school they got married only to get herself killed while I still loved her."

"What was this girls name? Im sure she was lovely." I was still unsure why he was tell me.

"Oh yes she was lovely. Don't freak out but her name was Evans, Lily Evans."

Professor Snape let out with a sigh, you could tell he was only just holding in his tears. It must of been hard on him loosing his love of his life to another man only to see her die. I knew his pain. I didn't know what to do or say so I just said what came to my head.

"So you loved my mother? And I'm guessing you wish I was your child and James' and you think that way she still might be alive to this day?" I knew it was true but what was I meant to do? Let him become like a father figure to me or what?

By the looks he didn't know what to do now either as for all he did was sit down at his desk. After awhile of pondering Snape simply said "Yes."

"I know your not my father nor my godfather for that mater but I will still allow you to treat me as a son sometimes. Only cause I feel like I need a father figure to look up to. Is that okay?" I finished not really knowing what I had just said.

"I'd love that! Thanks Harry" Snape replied as he hugged me.

"You my head to your next class now. I'll talk to you after classes today, Okay?"

"Sure, see you later Professor." And with that I left for the rest of my classes.
