the smell of the steamy goodness fills my nose. the warm water hitting my face as well the bubbles arising upward.

"Dinner ready?" Scott asks walking into the kitchen where me and Melissa cook.

"Well Kayla here is quite the cook." Melissa smiles at me as I cut up some tomatoes. "Thanks, my dad actually taught me." I chuckle at the idea that my mother couldn't even make cereal.

she would think you would have to pour the milk first.

"Your mother was everything but a kitchen girl." Melissa laughs. "Yes, that's why my dad taught both me and Conner everything, magic wise too. I can cook you up a body swap potion in a matter of minutes." I chuckle shaking my head.

"I bet you miss them." Scott whispers lightly.

"I do. But sometimes faith, is faith. Conner wasn't a bad person, he was just mistakingly chosen." I whisper.

Talking about Conner was like talking about a filthy rat. Unimportance running through me.

"Don't get me wrong, I loved Conner. He even stressed to me how much I meant to him before he went off and did what he did, it was absolutely shocking. I just didn't except this from him." I say softly.

"Conner was very handsome, he was a respectful boy, but when I noticed your mother distant even more I began to worry about him. So I called everyday, he answered and seemed perfectly fine. So I just assumed your mother was just mad with me for a pathetic reason. But now I understand." Melissa says slowly.

"How come you don't have powers?" I ask her trying to get the full story.

"Well I was never really aware of Carmen having powers until she met your dad. He was .. different." Melissa explains.

"I remember my mother always going out somewhere with Carmen, I always felt .. like she didn't really feel the same way toward me. But now it makes sense. I wish I could just tell her that." I knew what she meant.

my grandma lolita died when I was 7, we were living with Melissa at the time. So we were all there for each other.

I hug her side as she gives me a small smile.

"Your mother Kayla, she was a beautiful, caring women. You resemble her so much."

No.

I was a Conner now.

"I-I'm never going to be like her. Never. She was an amazing person." I mumble letting her go.

I began chopping something else quickly trying to get my mind off it.

But memories kept seeping in with every word.. Movement ..

her small hand reaches out for her mothers. the warmth filling the palm of her fragile small one.

"Mikayla, you are going to learn how those little sprinkles in your hands work today okay? But you can not show anyone else but me, Conner, your dad and this man, understood?" Her body slowly levels to the young girl. Her voice was soft soothing.

"Yes mommy." Her small voice made her mother nod her head, standing up in a normal position.

there was a loud knock on the door that the young lady causes waiting for the man she desires to see.

"Carmen!" His voice was husky, deep, almost charming to her mother. "Zach!" She grins showing all her white shiny pearls.

"How are you? Oh my gosh this must be little Kayla!" He exclaims loudly, looking down at the 7 year old girl.
