Chapter Six: Tyrell Gonvi
I wasn't leaving without my favourite ball. My Dad told me to leave it home and 'focus on school stuff'. Uhm hello? Tyrell Gonvi, jock to the core. Leave my game winning ball home? I don't think so. So when I got on, I decided to check out the area I had. Carpeted floors. Wonder if it'd still bounce? I threw the ball. What happened next was an accident, I swear.
The ball flew over everyone's head. I breathed a sigh of relief. Until a girl walked out of a door at the back of the jet, and the ball wacked her right in the head.
"Owww!!" she crumpled to the floor holding her nose.
"Oh My God!" another girl ran over to the crumpled figure. Wait- was I seeing double?
"Geez!" A dark kid yelped and ran to get some tissues. A blond boy brought some ice from a mini fridge over and everyone surrounded the figure on the floor. The back door opened and a Chinese girl stepped out, picked up my ball, and threw it it the room she just came out of. The door closed. On the door was a sign that read 'Girls Only' with hearts and vines and that crap all over it.
"Hey! My Ball!" I yelled at her. She looked up and glared at me. Then she started talking to the girl who was crying on the floor. I walked closer.
"Is she....is she okay?" I asked. The girl's double glared at me.
"No she's not, thanks to you." She stood up to face me. She crossed her arms.
"Who the hell would through a basketball in a jet filled with people? What did you THINK would happen? Not everyone is a basketball hotshot!" She sand back down to her knees and said something to her double. Her double looked up and glared at me. She had blood on her fingers and a bunch of tissues pressed to her face. Her eyes were moist, but she didn't cry.
"I'm so sorry." I started. "I didn't even think of what could have happened." The lighter, older black kid stood up.
"Obviously not, man." He pointed to the front of the jet, and lead me away from the scene. He pointed to an empty seat. I sat down.
"Name's Jaedon." I thought he was gonna shake my hand, but he didn't.
"I'm Tyrell." Jaedon laughed.
"I guess everyone is gonna know exactly who you are at supper." Jeadon stopped laughing and sat down across from me.
"That was an idiot move, man. But you have a seriously strong arm." I nodded and put my head down.
"I didn't mean to. Really! I just wanted to see if my ball would bounce on the carpet." Jaedon nodded seriously.
"The carpet was your challenge." I looked up, amazed that someone understood what I was saying. Well, trying to. I was near tears because I felt so bad, but I would not cry infront of these people.
"Since you're the last stop, we'll be there soon. Maybe tomorrow we can play if they have courts there." Jaedon looked thoughtful.
"You play?" I asked amazed. Jaedon laughed.
"'Course I play! What kind of Trini would I be if I didn't know how to play basketball?" We laughed then Jaedon looked to the back of the jet. Right now, I need to go help and you need to think of a way to opologize." I nodded. I decided I should ask him about the doubles.
"One thing thought...." Jaedon nodded, encouraging me to continue. " Am I seeing doubles?" Jaedon stared for a moment then started laughing. Some of the other people at the back of the jet glared at us. He quieted down then continued.
"Those are the S.J twins. The one you hit is Syeira Taniyah Jalon. The 'double' (he chuckled) who gave you major attitude is her twin sister Shaylee Amoy Jalon." He thought for a moment then continued.
