Chapter Seven: Durante Valentina
First period, Meditation with Miss Lair. Second period was gym class with Coach Slate. Then it was morning break. Third period was Science with Proffesor Scully, then it was lunch time. Fourth period I had Martial Arts Training with Lavendar. Then my last class of the day was Psychology with Christoph. I wonder if I was in anyone's classes? After orientation we all headed back to our rooms. Dinner was at 6:00 tonight instead of 5:00, because orientation lasted about two and a half hours. After sitting for half an hour bored out of my mind, Waiz and I called everyone and asked if they wanted to go to our Hall. Everyone accepted, and Waiz and I met them down there. We discussed our timetables. The academy did an amazing job of splitting us all up after first period. The girls were all together for gym, and so were the guys. But after that people went to different classes. Miyuki said they probably wanted us to meet new people. Tally agreed. I wasn't so sure. I don't know why, but I was really nervous about this entire timetable. Maybe it was because I wouldn't know anyone in my classes, but maybe it was something else. Or nothing at all. My brother always said I was a worrier, and I was proving him right. When 6:00 rolled around, we were all starving. We made our way down to the dining halls, and picked a room. We picked the East wing, because it was the quietest. Everyone went to the buffet, got what they wanted then met back at the dining hall. It was a pretty silent meal. When dessert came, no one really wanted any. I think we were all shocked to silence over our timetables. Even Miyuki and Tally weren't chattering as much anymore.
I tried a few times to break the silence. Just simple 'What do you think tomorrow will be like' or 'What class will you like the most' weren't good enough. Obviously no one wanted to talk. I shrugged and stood up.
"I'm going to my room." A few nodded, and put their heads over there plates that were still full. I sighed.
"You know, it isn't the end of the world." Everyone's head shot up.
"Just because we aren't all together doesn't mean we have to stop being friends. We can still see each other at breaks, lunch, after classes, supper, study hall and our free time before curfew." Miyuki interupted me.
"Not everyone has curfew, Durante." She spoke to me slowly like I was stupid. Because Miyuki was seventeen, Tally and her could stay up as long as they felt like. The Academy believed that they should be able to make 'wise decisions' so that the next day they were ready to learn. I knew Miyuki and Tally wouldn't make 'wise choices'. More like they'd hang out at the guys wing until the last possible minute. Shaylee Amoy spoke up.
"Miyuki, he was just trying to lighten us all up. No need to be prissy." She stood up.
"He's right. We're pretty sad. I mean, this place must be filled with cool people and things to do. Sitting and sulking aren't going to get us anywhere!" she clapped her hands. I'm going upstairs too. I want to watch my shows, call my parents and have a good sleep to get ready for tomorrow!" She slapped her sister on the back.
"Gym, first thing!" she laughed and started to walk out with me. Jaedon stood up and came too.
"I'm in too. No more pouting!" He linked arms with Shaylee Amoy, who being friendly, linked arms with me. Syeira Taniyah stood up too and pulled Tyrell to his feet.
"We aren't gonna be left behind! Be Optimus Primes, Not Negatrons!" She said, emphasizing on the pun. We all laughed. Finally Waiz stood up.
"I agree. Let's be in good spirits!" We looked at him for a moment. He's a Buddha in a nine year old's body.
"Uh, what he said!" Jaedon covered for him. Miyuki and Tally stood up.
"Fine, fine. If the twerps can do it, so can we." Tally mumbled. Miyuki nodded.
