Chapter Twelve

"So what is the plan?" I asked the group of people standing in front of me. Callum looked just as curious, obviously not in the loop since he has been with me all night. The four vampires exchanged nervous glances before Zee was the brave soul to speak up.

"We need bait. And Basia fits perfectly for the job." She said. Callum didn't hesitate to growl viciously as he wrapped an arm around my middle and pull me back against his chest. It was vibrating as he held me protectively. 

"No! There is no way that is happening, Zee! Forget about it this instant!" Callum ordered. But Zee was shaking her head as she took a step towards us.

"Callum, she has to be-"

"She will be killed!" Callum snarled between set teeth. I winced at his tone, causing him to nuzzle into my neck and place a sweet kiss just below my ear. He whispered a sincere apology but that didn't stop his anger from rolling off of him in waves.

"You seriously think we'll let it come to that?! She is the bait, Callum. If we want to kill him, he has to suspect that she is his to have. It'll take him off his guard." Zee told me. Even though I didn't want to go anywhere near Mr. Diggory again, I knew she was right. So I nodded slightly. Callum let out another growl.

"No." He hissed. 

"I'll do it." I confirmed. Callum released me and stormed out of the room. I looked after him, hurt that he'd up and leave me like that. Tears pricked in my eyes but now wasn't the time to cry. We needed to execute this plan soon. 

"Good! So what you need to do is when he asks you to meet him, you say yes. Tell us where and we'll be there to stop him before anything happens. Alright?" Kiley said. I nodded and gnawed on my bottom lip. 

"Luke and I will be the first to attack him. He's extremely powerful. Considering Callum isn't here, I'm guessing he won't be taking part. Furthermore, once Luke and I weaken him, Kiley and Zee will come out and finish him off. Simple as that. If there are complications, Kiley and Zee will take Basia as far away as possible. Even to the next state until we call you back for an all clear. Understood?" Nate asked. We all nodded, not having any disagreement. Luke nodded and gave Zee a kiss on the head before letting out a breath.

"Should I go talk to him?" I asked, staring at my friends. They considered it for a moment before they all nodded their heads. I took off quickly and followed my instinct, coming up to a bedroom. When I opened it, Callum was lying on the bed, arm draped over his eyes. It must be a quest bedroom. There was no pictures or anything on the desks or walls.

"Basia...Why would you agree?" Callum asked in a dark, angry voice. I tried my best not to show my fear as I walked over and cuddled into his side. 

"He has to go. I won't sleep at night knowing he could come and snatch me away." I whispered. Callum instantly grabbed me and crushed me to his chest. I looked up into his eyes.

"You honestly think I would allow any harm to come to you?" He asked. I shook my head instantly. He sighed and leaned down to place a gentle kiss on my waiting lips. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly and held him close as he fingered my hair. "If you're bait, this is no way I could be there to stop him. He can kill you in a blink of an eye and I'll be too far away to stop it from happening." He murmured. 

I looked up at him and placed a hand on the side of his face, giving him a small smile. "Trust me. It's going to be okay. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere." I whispered, staring deeply into his eyes so he knows I'm not lying. He took in a deep breath and then craddled me close to his chest. I waited for his heartbeat to come but it never did. I placed a hand over where it should be and let out a breath.
