Chapter Five

"Basia!" I heard Kiley yell as I dug through my locker to grab books and spiral notebooks. I glanced down the hallway to see her skip happily towards me as she spun her purse. "Guess what!" She cried as she leaned against the locker next to mine. I raised my eyebrows in question.

"What?" I slung my backpack over my shoulder and shut my locker.

"So do you know that gorgeous hot guy in our first period? The one with the dark hair and he's extremely buff?" She seemed to get extremely excited just talking about him. I couldn't help but smile at her expression. I nodded. "Well! I have a date with him tonight!" She did a happy dance, making me smile and roll my eyes.

"Oh really? And where is he taking you?" I asked as we walked into the the classroom and sat in our seats at the back. The guy, William, looking over at us and winked at Kiley. I bit my bottom lip to keep from laughing as Kiley turned beet red. When she turned her attention back to me, she shrugged.

"I have no idea. It's a surprise." I let out a breath and sunk into my seat. I can't believe she would accept to go on a date with a man as big and strong as William and not know where he is taking her. What if he tries to pull something? I winced at the thought. I really do hate guys. I can only deal trust Callum. Because he's shown nothing but kindness towards me. Which is more than I can say for all these other teen guys. "Don't worry. I can handle myself. Trust me." She flashed me a smile but I couldn't find it within me to smile back.

"Just be careful." I whispered. She nodded and the the teacher sulked into the classroom and quickly started writing on the board, dismissing us. She wrote out Greek Mythology on the board and then Zeus, Hades and Poisiden underneath. I arched an eyebrow. Greek Mythology was my favorite subject.

"Does anyone know the name of Zeus' children?" I knew every single one of his children, but I kept my mouth shut and let other people answer for me.

Mrs. Underhill continued asking questions about the Greek gods throughout the whole period and I was so eager to answer them. So when the bell rang, I hopped to my feet and went to go to second period. I knew Kiley would be going to the same class as me next period but I still said goodbye.

I hated that I wasn't able to answer questions tI hat I actually knew. I know I shouldn't care, but I really do hate that people think I'm the freak that's mute and doesn't know anything.

As I walked to y next period class, I was just eager to relax and tune out the teachers.

Then I realized that Callum was going to be in that class with me. My heart began to race as I hurried down the halls.

When I got to my second period class, Callum was waiting by the door with a smile on his lips. "Hello, angel." He stepped towards me and pressed a small kiss to my lips. I blushed deeply and mouthed 'hello' as a group of guys swarmed passed up. His smile dropped a little but he grabbed my hand and pulled me into the classroom.

We sat in the back with Kiley as the teacher chatted with a fellow student. Callum grabbed my desk and in a fluid movement, he yanked me over to him. I gasped and looked at him with wide eyes. He just winked and leaned back in his chair, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked him when his eyebrows began to crease. He shot me a glance and then shook his head.

"Nothing. I was just wondering what your apartment looks like." I blushed and turned my attention to  my hands in my lap, fiddling with my fingers. Callum grabbed my left hand and held it tightly. "Let's go after school, shall we." I felt my mouth open to give him a snide remark. How dare he invite himself to my house! But I shut my mouth and sighed, glaring at him. No matter what, it just seems like I can't say no to his beautiful face.
