"I must have a word with your brother Sam," Carlisle told Callie.

"Why?" she asked as she sat on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate that Esme made for her.

"I have some news to tell him and I think it would be best if you stayed in their territory right now for protection. I have already called Sam, he is one his way," Carlisle explained as they looked out the windows and saw the large black wolf waiting.

"What's going on, Emmett?" she asked confused. Emmett grabbed her arm gently and began walking her outside with Carlisle and Esme following. The rest of the family went hunting to get the vampire off Callie's track.

"It seems that one of the vampires did catch your scent and in till we find the vampire, we need you to go be save in the hands of shapeshifters. The vampire wouldn't go near them," Carlisle explained as Esme took the empty cup from her hands.

"Oh," Callie mumbled as she stood next to her brother. "Hi, Sam."

The black wolf nudged her with his large head.

"I'll see you soon, don't worry, I'll deal with this vampire," Emmett told her as he sent her a dazzling smile.

"Okay," she mumbled and shifted into her wolf. Without looking back, she ran home with Sam. She realized that her safety was at risk the longer she hung around with the Cullen's.

...

Callie got home and was engulfed by all the boys and Emily in hugs. The imprints of the boys also hugged her. They had many questions for her but Sam told them to reframe from asking any questions involving vampires.

Callie spent her time hanging with the pack, baking with Emily, chatting with the girls and reading by herself. Days went by, those days turned into weeks and soon a couple months had passed. She wondered when they'd catch the vampire.

Her heart ached to see her imprint. The longer she was away from him, the stronger she realized she needed him. Vampire or not, she needed to be with him. Her thoughts were always on him.

She decided to go for a run that morning. She shifted and ran through the woods. She smelled it, vampire, was it him? She followed the scent and saw a glimpse of him. It was him!

She lightly howled and ran after him but he disappeared. She was deeper in the woods now.

"Stupid little wolf," a voice whispered in her ear as she quickly crouched down in an attack position. "I can change into whoever I want and now as I have you deep in the woods, it is your time to die!"

A blur flew by her and slammed into her wolf body. She yelped in pain as he body slammed into a tree. She tried biting the vampire as he held her down with his hand on her neck. If he pushed any harder, he could kill her with a simple snap of the neck.

"Get your hands off my mate," a strong deep voice growled as the vampire was tossed off her and his head was ripped off his neck faster then the speed of light.

Carlisle and Alice appeared. Callie whined in pain. Her neck bone was broken, it was stabbing into an important part. If left it could kill her and if removed it could kill her.

She started seeing black. Her eyesight was a blur. She whined for Emmett before falling to sleep. A peaceful sleep.
