Lightning ripped across the sky as thunder rumbled overhead. Blacks larger frame absorbed most of the blows that Daniel rained down on him and once clear of the building they broke apart, rolling away from each other only to stand and circle like a pair of fighting wolves.
" Do you really think you can fight me and win? " Spitting blood, Black laughed at him. " Is this really what I get for not ripping you open and leaving you to rot inside that tin can? "
" You killed my best friends. " Daniel snarled.
" As if you wouldn't have done the same. I can feel your hunger as strongly as you can, but if you really want to dance, " Black lifted his arms, spreading them wide, his amber eyes shining with amusement. " Then bring it. "
Daniel charged. Leaping at Black he sent them both toppling into the fire. Ash and hot coals burned into their flesh as they rolled, punching and biting once more. Black was able to flip Daniel over his head, sending him flying back into the barn.
Daniel hit one of the support posts hard enough to break it and he fell to the floor dazed. Something in his back had snapped when he hit the post. Whit hot pain seared through him when he tried to move and blood flew from his mouth. Childhood memories played out like old movies behind his eyes as his body began to heal. It was funny how he had once thought that killing a vampire would be easy. All you needed was sunlight, a stake thought the heart, fire or decapitation. Oh how he had been wrong.
" I had such hopes for you. " Black scowled down at him, his foot firmly on Daniel's throat.
" Liar, " Clutching Blacks boot, Daniel forced Black's foot off of his throat, twisting and pushing upwards with enough force to send him flying back into the lip of the stage.
" You lied to yourself. " Black snarled, his amber eyes blazing as he wiped the blood from his face. " Now embrace what you are and kill the rest of them. "
Black was right, he needed to finish it, to end the madness he was caught up in and end the pain that had long been so much a part of his life. Slowly, Daniel found the strength to get to his feet as he tried to get his bearings.
" No one is a part of this but me. Jack wanted me dead. Not Mia, not Zakk not my sister. You chose to hurt the people I love. "
" As if Jack gives two shit's about who dies and who lives. Do you see him? And why don't we hear any sirens? The police had plenty of time to get here. Trust me, Jackson Carver is not the man you think he is. "
Black rushed him, driving Daniel back into the broken post, breaking it. He grabbed Daniel by the hair, pulled his head back and sank his fangs deep into his throat. Daniel wrapped his arms around Black, giving him a bear hug and sinking his own fangs into Black's shoulder. Neither of them noticing when the loft above them began to creak and groan before crashing down on top of them.
He was bleeding heavily, a peice of the floor driven deep into his belly. Daniel couldn't move, couldn't see as dirt smothered his face. He forced himself to be calm and as he did he heard her soft voice inside his head. " I got this. When you can move you need to go leave this sight and go to grownd elsewhere. I will find you when I am ready. "
" Not before I kill them all. " Black's voice filled his head as well.
" I can't move. " He was feeling the sleep stealing over his limbs as his blood seeped down into the grown. Down over Jade's face and into her open mouth. Leave it to Jack to build the barn over her body.
" He should have burned you. " Black snarled. " Now feel me slaughter them all. "
" I don't think so Sebastian. " Jade's fingers began to move as more of Daniel's blood filled her mouth, giving her the strength she needed to rise again.
