Peso swiftly swam out from the shelter of the cave, searching the sand-filled waters for the source of the distress call. The waters all around him were murky, and he couldn't see anyone nearby. Nevertheless he swam forward,  determined to find the source of the distress call.

As the waters cleared around him, he continued searching the sea floor for a creature in trouble.

"Hello?" He called. "Is anyone injured? I'm a medic, I can help!" The dark waters around him were silent, and he was beginning to think the shout had just been a figment of his imagination.

"Please, help me!" The cry seemed to be coming from above. He raced toward the surface, the waters around him getting lighter as he swam, trying to find the source of the call before they disappeared again. As he neared the surface,a mass of debris appeared. A knot of seaweed and driftwood, pushed together by the storm.

Seaweed was wrapped around a dark, sodden form, clinging tightly to a pierce of driftwood.
One leg was twisted behind the animal at an unnatural angle, and it looked to be broken.

Large, slightly unfocused amber eyes met his as Peso looked at the animal. Peso noticed a large gash on its forehead, as the creature looked up at him. It had a face that was an odd mixture of a dog and a cat. It had a small head, feline in shape, that ended in a short muzzle, looking slightly like a dogs.

"I can't swim." It said in a distinctively feminine voice, panic in its eyes.

Peso started, realizing that he had been staring, and quickly introduced himself.

"I'm Peso, and I'm a medic, I help anyone that is hurt or sick." A pause and then he asked, "Who are you?"

" I'm Fae" she gritted out, trying to stay on top of the log. She looked tired, her eyes dull and her limbs shaking. Her long tail dragged in the current, unbalancing her, and she swayed to the side. As her tail dragged in the current and she fought again to regain her balance, her claws slipped and before Peso could catch her, she fell into the ocean.
