The Storm

The water around the Octopod was turbulent and choppy, turning the surface of the ocean into huge, angry waves. Rough currents surrounded the Octopod, causing it to shake and sway violently. In the sick bay, a small penguin struggled to keep his medical supplies from flying about the room, while at the same time trying to keep his current patients calm.

"We're all going to die!" A panicking crab exclaimed as the water in the tank sloshed around, almost dumping the poor creature out. " Don't worry we'll all be fine." Peso said in what he hoped was a soothing and confident voice. Inside, however, he was close to panic. The waters had never been so rough, that all of his supplies was flying around. Normally he and the other Octonauts might have gotten thrown around a bit, but usually his supplies stayed in its specially designed cabinets. These cabinets, of course, were made by Tweak, so they shouldn't be malfunctioning quite so spectacularly.

FLASHBACK

The storm had been so unexpected, the Octonauts had almost no time to brace for it. One moment, the radar had been clear, nothing could be seen coming for miles. Then, out of nowhere there was a large hurricane, quickly closing in on the Octopods location. The Captain had sounded the Octoalert and quickly briefed the crew on the situation. The Octonauts had then, with a great sense of urgency, run as fast as they could to their respective rooms, to try and put away as many things as possible before the storm hit.

END FLASHBACK

Personally, Peso thought that the radar must have malfunctioned, not that he would ever tell that to Tweak. She was scary when she was defending her gadgets, and he didn't want to make her feel bad.

The storm had been raging for awhile now, and Peso had almost become used to the rocking of the ship. His main concern now was to try to gather all his supplies that was currently bouncing around the room. He jumped, trying to catch a bandage roll that had apparently learned how to fly.

Suddenly, the Octopod stopped shaking, and there was a moment of calm silence. Peso was so startled that he completely missed the bandage roll, which landed with a gentle thump in the corner of the room. Just as he had landed, after his failed attempt to catch the bandage roll, his medical bag seemingly came out of nowhere and bopped him on the head. He stood for a moment, startled, and jumped when he heard a noise, coming from the corner.

The screen on the wall lit up with a staticky image of the Captains face. " Octonauts," he said, his voice a little crackly in the speakers, "this isn't over yet, currently we are in the eye of the storm, but that won't last for long. So, secure as many things as you can before the rest of the storm hits us. Barnacles out."

Peso hurried around the sick bay, grabbing wads of bandages and other things that had escaped during the storm. He knew it wasn't over yet, but for now, in the calm of the storm, he could breathe a small sigh of relief.
