Once they reached their camp, Gunner, Kyan, Tom, and Merli were locked up in a small, fenced-in area. Slowly, the day evolved to night, the small group surveying the camp's every move.
Miraculously, they'd managed to sleep that night. It was so very tranquil - so nice and peaceful, despite their situation. The presence of humans lessened and the night grew darker and darker. Stars twinkled overhead, and with time, clouds covered the sky; rain lightly fell to meet Tom and his companions. Tom rose his head from his neatly placed paws, and he breathed in the rain's scent. The feeling of rain and to be enamoured of it's presence fascinated the little dog. And as the rain fell upon him, he knew he'd be well.
Minutes before Tom had dozed off, Gunner turned to face them. "I'm sorry for getting you all involved with my mess. I'll figure something out."
Kyan was too sickly to care for the dog's half-assed apology.
Merli tries to offer to keep an eye on Kyan, just in case she
Kyan rejects Merli. She wanted to be alone. "Go to sleep, Merli," she'd say.
In the night, Gunner, Kyan, Tom, and Merli jolted awake to the rival group's leader meowing loudly, her mates howling and squealing. This commotion continued for a moment before it faded. Once more, it boomed, seconds later.
Merli staggered to her paws. From what Merli could see, the camp's leader was killing off some outsiders they found out to be spies in their group, and, of course, they worked for Gunner. She didn't care much. She hurt too horribly to care.
Gunner had observed that the extremely tall, scrap metal walls that surrounded him and his newfound allies was but a disguise (perhaps preliminary) shelter, their actual one somewhere far away - but not too out-of-reach, he knew.
As fast as light, Tom saw that this camp was being infiltrated by a herd of Ferals - one by one they flooded in, snarling, slobbering all over, killing humans and animals of the camp left and right. Kyan's eyes widen at the sight.
A spy of Gunner's, who he guessed wasn't found out to be a spy, clambers over to where Kyan, Tom, Merli, and Gunner were imprisoned. She rips the lock out from the handle, telling the four to escape. She wishes them good luck, fleeing but moments after.
Wide-eyed, Kyan's eyes darted. She scanned the camp warily, searching for a door or a hole to use as a means of escape.
"There!" Kyan lead her group to an opening in the wall.
As they shimmied through a crack in the walls, another pack of humans and few animals crashed through the nearly deteriorated camp. A deafening boom had sounded off where one side of the wall had then collapsed.
They're still recovering from the battle against Fellinground, it seems.
Maybe Fellinground won.
If not, we may have a small advantage, if their main camp is as easily infiltrated as this one. I highly doubt it would be, as easy it would be to imagine. The Regals aren't that idiotic.
The main group escaped up a tree that stood tall inside the camp's walls. They ran down a hill that lead to a small town, Kyan, Merli, Tom, and Gunner jumping from rooftop to rooftop in this half-town, half-jungle.
They reached a lone building - nowhere left to go. Ferals come storming after them. Gunner leapt off from the hut they stood on, Kyan, Merli, and Tom mindlessly following the Labrador. They found themselves almost cornered as the Ferals closed in on them, many jumping down from buildings which towered from above.
Behind them sat a piece of fencing. Though falling apart, it was their best bet. They locked the fencing in place. The Ferals covered the fencing - they were going to tear it down.
