Derek's True Colors

Derek came down to the hospital, with a movie in his hand.

"I'm really sorry for what I did. I know it isn't going to fix it. Just knowing that you were talking, kissing, AND sleeping in the same house as Cassandra irked me deeply. I know about the kissing part since one of the things you've forgotten Jaime, was that I wander around. Just like you, I was going to wander to her house. We obviously see who she cares for more then. " He said, and then stormed out the hospital room.

Jaime tried getting up, but I told him to stay where he was. I went to go try to talk with Derek. He was already out of the hospital and into the parking lot.

"Derek, wait up.." I requested.

"You kissed my cousin..wrapped your legs around him...and had him sleep over your house!" He yelled.

"Wanna know something funny? He told me and my mothers how you're bad news. And you want to know why Jaime was welcome to stay at my house? Why he was trusted on my property? He used to live with us. When I was going through that tough time, Jaime lived with us and made sure I wasn't alone when I was in a mood. Moms knew me being alone was a bad idea then.  Jaime was loved and cared for by my family until I went and screwed it up trying to get high or overdose on his medications. Then he freaked out not knowing what to do and then he moved out because of how scared he was. We broke up that same day he moved out. That night you saw us outside , we actually found out our feelings for each other are very..genuine." I yelled back, beginning to cry.

Derek opened a car door, "sit inside," he ordered. He then sat inside and closed all the doors. "Now listen. You're going to stay with me whether you like it or not. I didn't come find you for nothing. I didn't do what I did for nothing. You're staying with me. Okay!?" He yelled again, more like screaming. 

"No!" I screamed back, trying to open the door, but he yanked my arm away from the handle.

"You are staying with me. Forget Jaime."

My arm began bleeding, and I was trembling in fear. I mouthed the word 'OK' and then I got out of the car. I went back into the ER to see if they could bandage my arm up. They did, and then asked why I had glass in my arm and I said, "Same reason Jaime is in here. A jealous guy who is trying to take ownership of a woman. And that woman is me.. "

I walked back to Jaime's room and I stood in the doorway in tears, holding my arm.

"....He did that to you?" Jaime asked, with wide eyes . He propped himself up and waited for my answer.

"..y-y-yes he d-d-did," I replied and began crying.

Jaime held his arms out and said "Come here, you need some love. Not THAT kind of love he thinks he's giving."

I walked over to Jaime and sat on the edge of his hospital bed, and he hugged me. I told him everything Derek did and said.

"You've been with him for a while now, right? A  year? I see a ring on your finger. "

"Its our fake engagement. I call him my fake fiance. See, he wanted it to be serious. But obviously, I'm not letting that happen. I have a plan. We already are working on moving in together in an apartment.  And a lot of my stuff is in the apartment. Tonight I'm going to go there, spend the night, and break it off with him. In the morning I'll move my stuff back to my moms house. And then, you and me can celebrate together with a pizza and videogames. I heard you're going home tomorrow. "

"Sounds like a good plan. And, make that a date." He replied, with a wink.
