--Olivia's POV--
It has been two years since we ran, everything was peaceful here, and my little baby Jonah was now two years old. He loved getting himself into everything and was a little trouble maker. We have been happy here in South Carolina, we take Jonah to the beach and he loves it. I have managed to make a couple more friends here. Emily another wolf, and her partner Jane who was human. It was interesting to watch them, I never would have guessed that a wolf and a human could be in such a great relationship.
Emily had a son named Sam, and she would bring him over to playdates with Jonah. Plus it would keep them busy while we sat back and relaxed. Alex left us a couple months ago, his twin brother was dying because he got cursed by a witch who hexed him. Alex wanted to be with him, though he resented his brother for all his problems. Rose is still here, and as always is in the kitchen cooking up new ideas and new recipes. Both Jonah and I love her cooking.
Jonah was taking a nap with Sam, so Emily and I were in the living room with Rose talking.
"So, when are you and Elias going to admit your feelings to each other? I mean it's been what two years, you're only fooling yourselves." Emily said. I looked at her shook my head, she wasn't wrong, there has been this tension between us, but neither one of us wants to ruin what we have going."We make great friends, going any further means ruining it. Plus what if we don't work out? Are we just gonna go back to who we are? I don't think so, it would be too awkward." I said. They rolled their eyes.
"Oh come on Liv, you're just making an excuse, why are you so afraid to let him in?" Rose asked I had thought this question to myself a year ago.
"I'm afraid because when you let someone that close to you, they just hurt you. You guys don't know this, but I did love someone before, Jonah's father. He was a great Alpha, everyone would listen to him, and everyone respected him, he was nice to all his pack members, and I loved that. I let his charms cloud my judgment. He didn't only sleep with me then dump me, we had a relationship. It was a big secret he never wanted anyone to know. He was nice to me, and I know he cared about me, but then he was going to become the Alpha and I wasn't up to his status so he let me go. He broke my heart and told me I wasn't good enough to be by his side.I loved him, and every time I see Jonah I am reminded that I still might." I told them.
"Oh baby, I didn't know you had it this hard. That guy is an idiot for not wanting to be with you. You and your beautiful son." Emily said hugging me.
"We won't push you anymore. Okay, you do whatever you want when you are ready." Rose said I smiled I was glad they understood. I had never told anyone about me and Matthew. When I came to the pack, I didn't have many friends, but Mathew became my friend and soon after I fell in love with him. I really did think he loved me back, but I guess I was wrong. He was probably only nice to me so I would sleep with him.
Later that night, I woke up to Jonah crying. I got up and walked over to his room. Once I got there, I saw that Elias had already picked him up. He had been running a high fever lately, and it was hard for him to sleep. He gave him some medicine and lulled him back to sleep. I stood there watching as he did. He had been a sort of father figure to Jonah, and I was glad he was able to help him. Once he was asleep, he placed him back down and headed out of his room. I was too awake to go back to sleep, so I went and sat outside and watched the waves. Elias came out with me.
"Thank you for getting to him," I said, he nodded. I shivered as it was cold out here, and I was wearing a long t-shirt and legging. Elias must have noticed because a few seconds later a blanket was pulled over me. I smiled and thanked him.
"You look tired." He said. " Are the nightmares back?" He asked. I nodded I haven't had any nightmares for about a year now, but they started coming back, which meant I wasn't sleeping.
"I'll get over them, it's just hard to sleep alone that's all," I said.
"Why does this conversation sound so familiar?" He asked smiling.
"Because we had it about a year ago," I said laughing he joined me.
"I love your laugh, it's beautiful." He said I blushed.
"Thank you I guess," I said.
"Come on let's go inside and get some sleep. If it helps, you can sleep in my room." He said my eyes went wide. He noticed and explained himself. " Relax, you will sleep in the bed, and I will sleep on the couch, it's just so you don't feel alone tonight and get some rest." I nodded, we headed inside. The last time I slept in his room was two years ago when we first moved in, and I had the worst nightmare ever. I was crying and shaking to the point where I couldn't breathe. He had grabbed me and pulled me into his room. That night I slept in his arms. Eventually, I got used to him sitting in my room as I slept to help me be a little at peace while I slept.
The next day, we decided to go out with the kids as a big family. Emily with Sam and me with Rose, Jonah, and Elias. We hadn't done this in a long while. We went to the park. The kids were playing. Jonah pulled me up off the bench, and I ran around with him while he played. He wanted me to go down the slide with him, and I did. Then I chased him around the playground. He laughed his cute little laugh which made me smile. I pointed at Elias who was sitting at the bench and motioned for him to come over. He got up. I picked Jonah up and placed him in his arms.
"Your turn to play with him, I need a break," I said I kissed Jonah on his cheek and headed for the bench. Emily joined me.
"Wow, two-year-olds have a lot of energy. I mean how many times could you possibly need to go down a slide before you get tired of it?" She said I laughed. She had traded with Rose on playing with Sam.
"I think they can go down about a million times before they get tired of it," I said we both laughed. As I was sitting there, I felt like someone was watching me. I looked around but didn't notice anyone strange. There were parents and their kids only at the park. I shook it off. I waved at Jonah as Elias pushed him down the slide. I smiled he was such a grown boy now. I needed to get some water, so I headed for the water fountain. I drank some water, then stood back up, and that's when his scent hit me. I turned around and there he was. Matthew. He walked over to me.
"Long time no see huh livy," He said I was glued to my spot.
"What do you want Matthew?" I asked him with anger in my voice.
"Oh nothing, I was just going to ask you why it is you didn't tell me I had a son?" He said, my eyes went wide. How the hell did he know about Jonah?
