Chapter 6
▌ Mazes

"Lost in the maze, in the darkness."

"Then... h-how do I get home?" you asked hesitantly, stumbles over your words. No matter how magically awing to was to be in Wonderland, you couldn't forget how the Queen of Hearts would react to your presence. Though it may not be as exaggerated as Alice's story, you could tell it would not be good from the reactions of the men around you.

Jungkook let out a small breath, "I could try to figure it today, seeing as you need to get home right away..." he murmured, half to himself.

The April Hare, however, blurted out, "Isn't it the Black and White Ball today though?"

Jungkook silky ears stiffened from their relaxed position. He looked up, his eyes, like dark pools of ebony, widened. "T-That is today?" he asked.

You glanced around at the men beside you. Each one sighed.

Jin shook his head, "For a servant of the crown, you sure have no idea what's going at the palace."

Namjoon snickered, though attempted to hold it in by covering his lips with a large porcelain cup.

Jungkook ignored their comments to glimpse at his pocket watch. "It should be starting in... now." He chewed the side of his cheek, thinking.

"I'm sure it's okay if I stay here for another day, if I stay hidden—" you began, but another voice spoke.

"If the Queen is going to be dancing about, she wouldn't notice if the King slipped away to talk to a servant..." murmured the deep voice belonging to Yoongi, who apparently woke up at only the perfect moments.

They started to bicker about if the Queen would allow the clueless King to know such information, but you weren't paying much attention anymore. Instead, you gazed off over the tree tops where you could almost see the tips of tall towers, looming ominously. It made your stomach flip. Your eyes turned back to the men at the long table, all focused on helping you, a stranger, get home.

You felt...useless. Unable to provide any help. Just getting in the way.

Why would anyone help someone that they just met...?

Especially in something so dangerous, seeing the stories that circulated around the dreaded Queen of Hearts.

So, you promised yourself that you would help in any way. You would not be a burden. And if it came to it, you would surrender yourself to help your newfound allies.

It's not like there was much for you back home, anyway.

This would not be a story where the girl was a damsel to be saved.

"Stay close," Jungkook told you quietly. You both were inching through the edge of the trees around the Hearts castle, attempting to stay hidden from the view of any curious guards.

The sky was darkening and the castle's lights were casting long out onto the barren ground, making strange bright monsters play across the ground. You strained to see into a near, large window. Shadows of dancing figures flowed past in a slow turn.
