"Jamie?" I repeated, my voice registering shock. Had she seen what had happened? I started to panic.
"J-Jamie, what are you doing here?" I asked again, my voice an octave higher.
"You know her?" Sebastian asked, pointing at the girl who had fallen to her knees and had a sorrowful expression on her face. I nodded slowly.
"You killed him!" Jamie wailed from her position under the street light. Sebastian gave me a look that said 'You know her, you clean this up.' I rolled my eyes at him and shook my head, not believing how lazy he was and how unhelpful, too. I pulled the blonde wig off my head and shook my hair out; I think the wig was giving me a rash.
"Um, Jamie, are you ok?" I asked hesitantly, knowing how much she loved Derek. Sebastian had took off his leather coat and layed it on top of him. Jamie didn't answer me, either due to sobbing uncontrollably or not talking to the people who 'killed' her beloved boyfriend. Sebastian popped open the trunk of his Aston Martin and used control to lift Derek's body in the trunk.
"Wait! What are you doing? First you kill him, now you want to hide him from his friends and family and cause more trauma?" Jamie wailed, staggering from the spot where she had risen from her knees. My mouth widened at her appearance. No, there's no way around it; Jamie looked like she had just fallen off a Ferris wheel and dived into a swamp. Her mascara was streaked across her face and her eyeliner was smudged around her eyes. Her eyes were red with all the crying, and her hair was now falling out of her up-do and there were stray pieces sticking out of her head here and there. Oh, Jamie. My heart lurched at the sight of her. Immediately, guilt covered my whole body, paralyzing me to the spot. I longed to go and comfort her, but my body wouldn't let me.
Sebastian closed the lid of the trunk shut with a thunk and I snapped out of my inner thoughts. Wordlessly, he walked around and opened the driver's door, got in, and shut the door. Partners? I think not. I took a step towards Jamie, only to have her whip her head around and face me.
"You," She said, her voice filled with malice and hatred. She lifted her arm and pointed a perfectly manicured finger towards me. I put both my hands up in the universal surrender position.
"We're the good guys, Jamie," I said in a soft voice, hoping I could convince her, but her eyes showed no change in light.
"Good guys? Good guys? Do good guys kill innocent people?" she burst out, laughing. My arms fell limply at my side. It's times like these where I wish we could transfer talents to one another. I could have Healed Derek, but no, talents are just that complicated. I sighed.
"Why did you do it?" Jamie asked, her voice lowered to a whisper. I stared at her.
"We didn't! Derek is a part of the group who stole the Talented Four's talent necklaces from Talent Academy and Skill Institute! He's a criminal! Not a good guy, that's what we are!" I pleaded, wanting her to believe us, even though, somewhere inside me, I knew it wouldn't work. People jump to conclusions when they experience traumatic events.
"Lies! Stop trying to cover yourselves up! You've been exposed already! Why not just confess?" screamed Jamie, her voice echoing through the darks streets. All hope in my body plummeted and sunk into the blood stained road. Hey, at least I tried.
"I'm sorry, Jamie," I whispered, before Blending and jumping into Sebastian's car, taking off into the dark night. Leaving behind a blood stained spot on the road, and a tear-streaked, full of hatred and vengeance Jamie.
Sebastian didn't even say a word as I hopped into the car. He just stepped on the gas pedal and we sped off. After a while, I broke the silence.
"So, what are we going to do now? Derek's dead, Addison probably knows that we're taking out her body-guard groupies, and there's a girl that thinks we're murderers. What's our plan?" I asked him, exasperated. The pink mini dress I had on was starting to itch and the heels were killing me. I flipped down the sun visor and checked my hair and make-up in the mirror, making sure I looked presentable. My hair was a mess, due to the wig I took off. Come to think of it, where did I put that wig?
