Tyler wandered through the woods alone and afraid. He had no place to go and he couldn't go back home. The woods was the only safe place he could hide.

Or so he thought.

As night fell, Tyler rested against a tree by a small river stream. He was exhausted from all the running he had done.

He looked down on his pants and saw how tattered they were. Blood dripped from his legs and fell upon the leaves.

The boy winced when he touched the tiny cuts. They felt like big cuts, or maybe he was too afraid to make out what they were.

As Tyler started passing out, he saw a brick wall leaving against a tall boulder with a door on it.
Tyler stood up and ran up to the brick wall and allowed himself inside.

Once he was inside, Tyler leaned back against the door, feeling relieved that he was finally safe. He was so relieved that he fell asleep immediately.

In the middle of the night, Tyler woke up to see a strange man standing over him, along with some other men. He tried to scream, but the man pulled him into his grip and covered his mouth as tightly as he could.

The man looked into the boy's eyes, but he still kept him close.

"Who is that Josh?" One of the men asked.

"It's just a little boy." He replied.

"He doesn't look like one to me." Another man said.

"No need to make any conclusions!" Josh shouted.

Tyler was confused and scared at the same time. He didn't know what was going on.

Josh looked down on the child; staring at him right in the eye. Tyler looked at him; terrified.

"Who are you?"

"T-Tyler."

"Why are you here?"

"I'm h-hiding."

"Hiding from where?"

"From h-home."

"Why are you hiding from home?"

"I-I don't know."

"You should go home."

"No!" The boy cried. "I don't want to go home!"

"Why not?" Josh asked. "Your mother would be worried about you."

"I don't want to go home. Please don't let me go home."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes! Please don't let me go home."

Josh looked at the child for a short while before making up his mind.

"Fine."

Tyler was delighted.

"But, you must stay away from us until we can trust you."

"I will. I promise."

Josh made his decision and walked out with the rest of men, leaving Tyler all alone in the brick wall.
