After that night, Tyler started adapting to living with Josh and his men, which were known as the goths, who work each day outside their brick wall to protect it from danger. Tyler would hide away and watch them work.

The goths seemed to believe Tyler was no trouble to them, due to the fact he was just a little boy. Still, Josh was suspicious. He needed to build a trust before he could allow him into their group.

Each night, the goths allowed Tyler to eat dinner with them and sit around the fire with them. Because he hardly knew any of the goths, he stayed by Josh's side.

The next morning, before the goths went to work, a heavy tempered goth named Gerard approached the little boy as he was sewing his clothes.

"Why are you so little?" He asked.

Tyler looked up to the ugly goth man.

"Why are you asking me this?"

"Because your not like us, and you don't deserve to be here."

"Yes I do. Josh trusts me."

"He trusts you only when your near him."

"Sir please, just, leave me alone-"

Gerard pushed the boy to the ground and held him down.

"You don't talk to me like that!" He shouted. "I am a goth and I deserve respect-"

"HEY!"

Josh appeared and pushed Gerard up against the wall.

"What the hell are you doing!"

"I-I wasn't doing anything-"

"Don't lie to me Gerard! You know what I do to liars who disobey the group."

"Josh-"

"YOU KNOW THE PUNISHMENT! RIGHT?!"

"Y-Yes sir."

Josh let him go.

"Good."

Gerard ran off. Josh looked down at Tyler, who was still on the ground. He held out his hand to him.

Tyler was a little scared.

"You don't have to be afraid child." He said.

Seeing how kind he was to him, he allowed him to help him up.

Josh looked over him to see if he was okay.

"Did he hurt you?"

"N-No."

"Good. I'm very sorry for his behavior. He never trusts new arrivals, especially children."

"I-I'm sorry, J-Josh."

"I know, but you've got to be more careful."

"Y-Yes Josh."

He nodded and proceeded to walk away.

"Josh?" Tyler called.

He stopped walking.

"Am I allowed to your group now?"

Josh stood and breathed in and out.

"When the time is right."

Once again, Josh walked away.

Tyler stood there, alone.
