The next morning, Tyler woke up early to go out by the lake to fetch some water. When he walked out, the forest seemed calm and not much was disturbed. It was almost like nothing was alive when he stepped into it.
When he came to the lake, he kneeled down and started into the water. He saw the calm and flexibility it had as it swayed across the stream. Tyler though it was most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
The boy put his hands into the water and started washing dirt away from his face due to his recent attempt on his life.
As he was washing his face, a strange old woman appears in the reflection.
"Hello my dear."
Tyler immediately turned around and saw the old woman.
"Now now little one. There is no need to be afraid."
"W-Who are you?" Tyler asked; curious but not afraid.
"I'm just an old woman traveling through the forest." I happened to stumble upon you by the lake and I wondered if you needed some help getting around the forest."
"No need." Tyler replied. "I live here."
"You live here?" The old woman asked. "With who?"
"The Goths. They help build this brick wall to protect themselves from outsiders."
"I see."
"Why are you traveling through the forest?" Tyler asked the old woman.
"I live nearby, and I've gone out for a few days to take of some things. It has been a long journey. But on my way home, I stumbled upon an apple tree and found the most beautiful apple I had ever seen."
The old woman took it out of her bag and showed it to Tyler.
"Have you ever seen such a beautiful apple in your entire life."
"It's beautiful." Tyler said. "I had never seen an apple like that before."
The old woman smiled.
"Well, why don't you have it?"
"Oh, I couldn't."
"Why not? Do you this apple might be poisoned?"
"No of course not. It's just that I don't think I should take it."
"You should." The old woman insisted. "It's good for your health."
She held it out to him.
"Here, take it."
Tyler took the apple from the woman's hand. He looked at it and smiled.
"How much?"
"No sweetie, keep it as a gift."
The old woman sat down next to Tyler as he looked at the apple.
"You won't good health, don't you?"
Tyler smiled at the old woman.
"Very much yes."
The old woman chuckled.
"Then take a bite, and you shall always have a life of good health."
Tyler closed his eyes and took a bite from the apple.
However, after he did, he started losing his breath rapidly. The boy wrapped his hands around his neck and started choking.
The old woman looked at the boy, gasping for air.
"What's the matter dear? Cat caught your tongue?"
Tyler looked at the old woman as he struggled to breathe. She laughed evilly at him, and he collapsed and fell upon the ground.
The old woman was actually Jenna in disguise. She had tricked Tyler into eating the poisoned apple.
The evil woman laid upon Tyler's body and pressed her hands against his face.
"You've been in my way all these years. I've struggled to survive because of you, because of your beauty, because of your innocence, because of who you are. It's almost destroyed me. But now you're out of my way forever. I will never have to see you alive again.
Jenna laughed; rubbing Tyler's cheeks.
"My dear stepson, you shall forever rot in the afterworld and never come back to life. I look forward to surviving for thousands of years with you out of my way.
She leaned closer to his face.
"Goodbye my dearest Tyler. Goodbye my stepson. Sleep well."
She kissed him on the cheek and laughed loudly through out the forest.
This alerted Josh, who came outside, only to find Tyler laying on the ground.
He was shocked and heartbroken. He couldn't believe his own love was lying lifeless and showing no sign of living.
He knew what had happened to him.
