"You look like shit." This was the first thing Thomas was greeted with when he entered the kitchen the following morning courtesy of his brother, Dean.

Thomas smacked the back of his younger brother's head as he sat down beside him at the kitchen table. Of course he looked like shit. After his nightmare last night, he fell back asleep for all of ten minutes before waking up in a sweat and was unable to fall back asleep again.

Thomas rested his head on the table and wrapped his arms around his head, attempting to block out any light that could reach his eyes. He shut them but he could still feel them stinging from his lack of sleep.

"Kids, are you both okay to get school? I need to – Thomas, are you okay?" Thomas heard concern in his mother's voice as she entered the kitchen.

"He's fine, Mom. He is just hiding his face," Dean told their mother. "He looks even shittier than usual, see?" Dean then grabbed the back of Thomas' shirt roughly and pulled, causing Thomas' head to jerk up off of the table.

"Dean! How many times do I have to tell you that there is to be no cursing in this house," their mother scolded Dean. Despite his tired state, Thomas smirked slightly at the fact Dean got into trouble. He may have been seventeen years old but it still made him happy when his brother was the subject of their mother's scolding. Thomas swore that he heard Dean mumble something under breath before he grumbled sorry and their mother smiled in satisfaction.

"Are you okay though, Thomas?" his Mom asked him as she grabbed her keys from the kitchen counter. Thomas just nodded. Normally he would have crawled back into bed if he felt this bad but he needed to be at practice after school.

His mother gave him a sheepish look before nodding. "Well you know you can call me when you are in school if you need anything." With that, she walked out of the kitchen, leaving the two boys to get ready for school. Thomas sighed at the thought of school. Today was going to be a long day.

Whoever thought of teaching biology to teenagers and expected them to enjoy it was obviously deluded, Thomas thought as Mr. Daly began to hand out a test to the class. He had totally forgotten about the test and he prayed that the fact he had attempted the homework last night would somehow help him get a good grade. Okay maybe not a good grade but a pass.

He looked over Logan who was laying back on his seat, looking like he hadn't a care in the world. Thomas knew that there was no way his best friend had studied for this test but he would somehow manage to scrap a pass. He always managed to but Thomas on the other hand usually wasn't so lucky.

"And you may begin," Thomas' biology teacher told them all. Thomas watched as Mr. Daly sat down at the desk at the front of the room, with a slightly bored look on his face as he flipped through some pages. For someone who claimed to love biology, he never looked too enthusiastic about it.

Thomas groaned quietly as he looked down at the sheet in front of him. He had a vague idea about some of the questions but others might as well have been in written in Chinese.

Glancing at the clock on the front wall of the classroom, he saw he only had twenty minutes to complete the test. He began scribbling answers and knew that he could only hope for the best.

Lunch. Thomas' favourite period of the day. Without fail, lunch was always interesting and seeing as Thomas was on the basketball team, he was popular so there was always people around him. Today, that would serve as a somewhat distraction to the pounding headache caused by his lack of sleep.

Thomas made his way to the already crammed table and looked for his best friend and spotted him talking to Stephanie. Or was it Selena? It didn't really matter as he made his way to sit beside Logan but saw that his attention wasn't going to waver from Sarah or whatever her name was. Thomas didn't care though because it took all of five seconds before he was included in a conversation about the upcoming game.
