The Calm Before...

I don't know what I'm really doing anymore. This bodyguard job is no more than a leisurely life. Sure, I'm legally obligated to protect them and follow orders, but they're making this feel like it isn't something I should stress about. It's a huge relief to know that I can relax at least a bit more than with my courier job. Today however, as I was just about to enter the elevator to the 99th floor, I heard a voice call out my name, one I didn't recognize.

-"Cole! Please hang on a moment!" The voice said.

I turned around, looking through the Basilicom lobby floor but saw no one who was looking my way. Strange, could've sworn someone called me.

-"May I have a word with you, Cole?" I heard the voice again.

I looked around intensely this time, still failing to see anyone.

-"Cole? I'm right here." The voice said.

I finally looked to my right and saw a very small girl, riding a book...I'm not sure how I feel about this.

-"Um, hello? Do I know you?" I asked

-"Um, hello? Do I know you?" I asked.

-"Oh! My apologies, we haven't met yet. My name is Histoire, I am the Oracle of Planeptune. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Histoire said.

My body froze. The Oracle?! This was the Oracle of Planeptune!? There were so many rumors of her, mainly of just what she looked like. But this, this was the overseer of Planeptune? I'm not denying that her power and wisdom must be unrivaled, but it's just such a shock to face the truth. None of the rumors were true at all! She's really a small girl riding on some random book. Maybe she's just...um...I don't know. I can't really come up with a rational explanation to this.

-"Excuse me, Cole? Are you feeling alright?" Histoire asked.

-"Uh, y-yeah! I'm fine. Anyway, so what was it you wanted to say to me?" I asked.

-"I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone else, okay?"

She looked a little embarrassed. I nodded.

-"Well, it's just that I...need...your help." Histoire said.

-"Huh? My help? Why me of all people?" I asked.

-"Well, truth be told, the power of your gauntlet is getting more and more attention from the Candidates as of late. I know you're their bodyguard, but I just need your assistance for a few minutes. I promise to not be a burden!"

The Oracle of Planeptune needs my help for something and she feels bad for asking?! I don't think there's a person in Planeptune that would decline! Also, she called my glove a gauntlet? Is that the actual name for this thing? Hmm...maybe I should start calling it that too.

-"Of course I'll help. Also, if anything, I'd be the burden slowing you down. You shouldn't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Trust me, a little aid can go a long way." I said.
