After we boarded the Titanic I joined everybody else on deck and waved goodbye to Belfast, even though it wasn't goodbye forever. That night at supper,my mom and dad were talking about all the things we would do in America and I was reading even though I should have been eating. I didn't like the stew we were served so I just poured it under the table, I got a few looked from the "proper" ladies in the dinning room but i just stuck my tongue out at them. When I looked up from my book, I saw a boy laughing with his family, he looked about my age, maybe older. He had jet black hair and deep green eyes. He was tall, like his dad who had graying, light brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Then i saw his mom, who was probably the most beautiful lady I ever saw; well, except for my mom. She, like her son, had jet black hair and green eyes but ,unlike the rest of her family, she was short and stout. She looked kind of funny next to her tall son and husband. "Lily, Lily!" my dad said, interrupting my thoughts,"lets go." I grabbed my brothers hand followed my parents back to our cabin.
My parents went to a party on one of the lower decks, so i had to looked after Joseph. I tried reading to him but he got bored of the books and started running around our small cabin pretending he was an airplane.I sat on my bed thinking of what the stars would be like out on the ocean, i didn't just want to imagine and I couldn't leave Joseph alone in the cabin, so i picked him up and went on deck.
I sat on a bench, put my little brother on my lap and looked up at the night sky. The stars were beautiful. They were so bright. I closed my eyes and pictured myself flying through the stars and looking down at the ship of dreams. The cool night breeze felt good on my skin, the air smelt like salt and the waves hit softly on the side of the giant ship. It was so peaceful. I could have stayed there forever but i had to get back before my parents did. I picked up a sleeping Joseph and started for the third class cabins.
In the hallway I was deep in thought and wasn't looking where I was going and ran right into someone. "Sorry!" I said, trying to calm Joseph, who had been woken up when I ran into someone and was crying so loud I thought he was going to wake the whole ship. " Its alright" said a deep, english voice. I looked up to see that it was the boy i saw at supper. I thought he was cute, up close. I started to blush at the thought, "whats your name?" I stammered stupidly, which made me blush more. "James, James Bailey, and yours?"He said yelling slightly over my brothers wailing. " My name? Oh! umm, it...its Lily and this is Joseph" I said pointing to my red faced brother. A few groggy eyed passengers poked their heads outside their cabin and shot angry glances at us, A few even shook their fists. We stood there for a few seconds then he held out his hand, I awkwardly shook and said,"well, it was nice meeting you." He flashed a perfect smile, tipped his hat and walked of. I waited until he was gone and ran as fast as i could with Joseph in my arms, back to my cabin.
I laid in bed playing that moment over in my head and I drifted to sleep. I ended up dreaming about James, I didn't know why, but I did. The next day I was hoping to see James. But I didn't, I didn't even see him at breakfast. I expected to see him at lunch, because an guy has to eat, but I din't. He wasn't at supper either. Where was he?
