TW: Slight Angst/Hurt Comfort
Title ~Everything is going to be fine.~
"Nano?" Lalna called gently outside. He’s checked all around their base and couldn’t find Nano anywhere. She disappeared at some point during the day, when Lalna was working with something else probably. He just happened to turn around she was gone.
He heard something off into the woods. It was something like whimpering. His stomach turning, he switched to a weapon in his inventory, and headed off into the woods.
It wasn’t long that the whimpering grew louder, and became close to screams of pain. The more he listened, the more he was sure it was Nano, probably had gotten herself injured while in the woods. Maybe a skeleton or a zombie that had managed to find a dark hole to hide in or in the shade of a tree during the day. Maybe she ran into a creeper, and was left in the aftermath of the explosion.
His thoughts grew darker and darker, which made Lalna pick up the pace in his step. He could hear it, it was close now. Nano was nearby.
Lalna pushed back a few branches from trees, and there she was. Writhing on the soft dirt ground, gripping leaves and twigs until they crumbled and snapped. Her face was the perfect expression of fear and pain. The purple swirls of taint on her skin moved and spun, like wisps of smoke. Both of her eyes, instead of the usual color hazel, were a dark purple, with a lighter purple in the whites. Her legs were pulled up to her chest, and she was obviously fighting something in her mind.
Lalna saw her and his shoulders sagged. He sighed with pity, and knelt down next to her on the ground. The flux had somehow caused these fits, and they became more and more recent. It causes Nano great pain, and makes her not think clearly. Getting close might be dangerous.
Putting all caution aside, the scientist wrapped his arms around Nano’s shoulders, pulling her into his lap. He brushed her hair out of her face, and rubbed soothing circles into her back.
"Shh, Nano," Lalna said gently. "Everything is going to be fine."
