Tears And Memories

Natalie and Haley were still searching the house for the missing pearl necklace, when Mrs Thomson knocked on Natalie's bedroom door.

"Natalie, honey I know this means so much to you, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere in the house. How about you and Haley do your French, while I make lunch?" her mother said soothingly.

"Okay, but I'm gonna try look for it later again," murmured Natalie.

As her mother nodded and exited the room, Haley turned towards her best friend, "Natalie, I'll help you look for it again later, I'm sure we'll find it," she said, trying to comfort the upset Natalie.

Natalie just hugged Haley tightly, as tears began to roll down her cheeks. "I-I miss her so-so much Ha-le-y," she stuttered. "She was always there for me-me, like if my mum couldn't make any of...of my shows or parents evenings, she'd be-e there."

"I understand," soothed Haley gently. "Now where did you see this necklace last?" she prompted.

Natalie paused for a moment, "Well I seen it last night, before going to sleep. Early this afternoon I went downstairs to ask my mum if you could come over, when I went back upstairs I realised it was missing..."

"Okay, well we'll search for it again later. Now let me fix your your make-up, so you don't have to go searching for the necklace looking like a panda," joked Haley.

Smiling up at her best friend, Natalie replied, "Thank-you for always being here for me, you know your like my sister, and I'm so lucky to have you"

"Your welcome," murmured Haley, "Now let's start on this homework."

Pulling their jotters out from their bags, they began to recite their phrases for an upcoming assessment.

"...je vais au collège avec mon..."

"...parce que j'ai aimé..."

"...j'aime beaucoup les..."

Mrs Thompson smiled as she listened to the foreign phrases coming from upstairs, Haley really was the perfect friend.

A few hours later

"Thanks Haley, have a great evening!" called Natalie as Haley turned to wave at her.

"You too!" she called back, "Sorry we couldn't find the necklace though!"

Natalie had walked Haley part of the way home. Haley only lived two streets away, so it was the usual for one of the girls to accompany the other girl, half way home.

Waving one last time at her friend, Haley turned back round and turned round a corner.

When Haley disappeared from sight, Natalie felt a strange sensation creep up her spine. Ignoring it, she turned to go back home.

You guys are amazing! I only put this book up yesterday and the amount of reads is already beginning to climb :D The editor of this book (brunetx) also edited my other book (One Chance) so I'm eternally grateful ;) thanks again for the reads!
