Natalie sat on her bed in shock. She had moved everything possible, in order to find that precious gift, but it had been in vain. It was gone.
"Natalie! Haley is here, have you tidied your room?" called her mother from downstairs.
"Mum have you seen Gran's gift?" asked Natalie, appearing at the top of the stairs.
"No why?" her mother asked.
"M-my pearl necklace is missing," whispered Natalie.
"Honey, you've probably just misplaced it," her mother said soothingly.
"Do you want me to help you look for it?" came Hayley's voice. Looking behind her mother, Natalie spotted Hayley looking at her with a concerned expression.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry Haley. It's just that I can't find the necklace my gran gave me. Thank-you for offering to help but it's not in my room, I mean I've looked everywhere," said a gloomy Natalie.
"Well why doesn't Haley double check, two pairs of eyes is always better than one," her mother said as she motioned for Haley to go join her friend.
"Okay mum..." Natalie trailed off.
"I'll look for it down here," her mother said shooting Natalie an encouraging smile.
"Thanks mum," said Natalie gratefully as she disappeared back into her room.
"We'll find this necklace," Haley stated, before joining her friend.
Mrs Thomson watched the two girls disappear into Natalie's room. Judging from the noises of things being thrown around, they weren't going to leave anything in it's original place.
They'll find it, she told herself. After all, where else could it be?
Second part finished yeayyy! :) thanks for reading! I know it's a bit short, I'll try fix that in the next few chapters.
