Day 03

Kaida blinked once and then twice in the universal sign for 'does not understand.' Malik sighed rubbing a hand over his stubble before picking up the writing instrument he normally found himself using when engaged in drawing his maps.

"You still do not understand something as simple as map reading?" he inquired, though it should have been more of a statement really. The answer was obvious from the look on the horned woman's face. Sure enough she slowly shook her head from side-to-side signifying that she did not.

An exasperated sigh came from Malik once more causing Kaida to worry slightly. "Ah, you do not have to explain again if it is too troublesome!" she fretted, waving her hands in front of her slightly as if to ward off any irritation the assassin Rafiq held. It was something entirely new to the woman to be at the receiving end of someone's irritation, having been revered all her life as a Goddess in her land of origins.

Malik waved his hand, writing utensil still in hand, effectively quieting the odd woman. She knew nothing of the customs, of how a woman was expected to act in this land - which had been the original reason as to why she had stayed and not been sent off to fend for herself.

Kaida blinked before leaning over the map and listening intently in her need to fulfill her curiosity on how to read a map...

Day 05

Malik stared at the purple-haired woman who had numerous books scattered about her, one was even open atop her head as if it were really a type of hate and not a piece of literature. In her hands she held another book, upside, and seemed to be squinting at the print on the pages as if that would help her to decipher the font.

Kaida remained oblivious to the one-armed assassin's dark gaze, twisting the book at a diagonal to see if that would help her to make sense of this strange scrawl that these people called writing. It was so different than what she had grown up seeing!

Malik's lips quirked up in amusement as the horned woman who called herself a Goddess tossed the book in her hands to the side only to pick up another in the pile and to examine it as closely and humorously as the first one, all the while that that one book atop her head...

"Do you not recognize our writing as well?" Malik spoke up after several minutes of this spectacle watching in good humor as Kaida jumped, knocking the book atop her had loose only for it to close around one of her horns and hang there, tilting her head to the side from its weight. Malik had to fight back a laugh at the bewildered expression that covered the woman's face. It didn't take long for her cheeks to begin to color red.

"For-forgive me if I am not supposed to be looking at these, but I was intrigued as to how the writing in this land looked!" she babbled, only causing more enjoyment to Malik Al-Sayf.

Day 13

Kaida sighed, pouting slightly - almost childishly at the lack of anything to do. She wasn't allowed to leave the building without an escort, in fear that she would do something against society norm and get into too much trouble. She continued picking at the fabric of her robes idly, musing over what she could do.

Suddenly her eyes lit up and a grin lit up her face before she began rooting around the cubby holes and cabinets looking for parchment and the ink and writing utensils. It didn't take her long, only having to recall where Malik put them when he was done drawing his maps - he never drew anything else, however, which came across Kaida as kind of boring.

She hesitated just a moment before dipping the utensil into the ink well and began her crude drawings, doodling anything that came to her mind without a care in the world.

It didn't seem all that long before Malik returned from gathering his information as was usual for Jerusalem's Rafiq only to find the purple-haired woman behind the counter doodling on a rather large piece of parchment - a large, expensive piece of parchment and even getting ink everywhere in her endeavor to draw.

It only took a few moments for Kaida to feel Malik's smoldering stare only to grin up at him obliviously. She had several ink spots on her cheeks and her clothes as well as her hands. Malik felt his irritation melt away slightly at the grin before Kaida lifted up the parchment to show off her drawings of animals not native to the land, causing a bit of confusion on Malik's part.

He found it rather strange that he was not snapping in anger at the woman for wasting the parchment on something so tedious, he would have done as much if she had done something like this on the first day after all. It seemed she was growing on him...

He sighed at the rather crude drawing of him in the corner, however...

Day 21

Kaida sat herself up on, cuddling a pillow close to her body as she rubbed the slip out of her eyes with her free hand. Whimpering could be heard coming from Malik's sleeping area - which had woken the Goddess up.

She was curious, and so naturally she stood herself up and sneaked her way over to Malik's form, peering over his shoulder to see his face in the dim lighting of the night. His face was twisted up in grievance, causing Kaida to begin to worry for him. He never spoke of what bothered him, and there was clearly a story behind why he was missing an arm.

The horned woman reached out tentatively, laying her hand atop his head and running her fingers through his hair. Maybe it would help ease his mind a little as he slept?

Kaida's worry was drowned out in surprise however as Malik's remaining arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her down atop him. She could feel her cheeks heat up as she attempted to move out of his grasp - but for a man with only one arm he was surprisingly strong.

'Curse my curiosity!' she found herself musing in embarrassment. It took hours for her to finally relax enough to fall asleep... She dreaded the wake up in the morning however...

Day 22

"... Woman..."

"H-huh?" came the drowsy response, Kaida even idly moving to wipe the drool away from her chin.

"Why are you in my bed with me?"

"A-ah!" she once again found herself fretting, searching for a suitable answer. "Curiosity kind of led me here..." she chuckled nervously under his scrutinizing gaze.

Surprise filled her lavender gaze for a moment as Malik's arm tightened around her form instead of moving or pushing her off...

'Curiosity killed the cat; Satisfaction brought it back!'
