“You are just the most fascinating person to talk to about reading material, you know that, Candace?” Shaun snorts, turning from his computer to shout this across the room at the woman and Rebecca who had been speaking about their favorite books. Of course, he had been eavesdropping on the two and had seen fit to drop in his two cents now.

“Ooooh, that’s a one, boy-o!” Candace calls back, sweeping her auburn bangs away from her face and shooting the man an amused look. Rebecca chuckles, shaking her head at the game the two had come up with while Desmond was in the Animus. Shaun shrugged, not turning away from the computer.

Desmond blinks, rubbing a hand over his eyes as he sits up from the Animus, confused at what he had just heard. He had just met the three new assassins (Rebecca Crane, Shaun Hastings, and Candace Lupé) after his escape from Abstergo with Lucy. It was rather nice to be around people who shared a common goal and weren’t just using him. But some of the things were a little confusion.

Like this game that Shaun and Candace seemed to have. He still didn’t understand it.

“Desmond’s back!” Rebecca cries out joyfully into the room, an unneeded announcement, but one she had taken to throwing out anyways.

“Yeah…” he looked around the room, spotting everyone at their usual stations. “So what’s with this game, anyways?”

“Shaun’s a raging ass-“ Candace started, turning to shoot Shaun a look. He raised his hand, only the index finger raised.

“One.”

“To make a short story shorter,” Rebecca interrupted lightly, clearly unbothered by the two. “Candy got irritated with Shaun so she started firing insults back. They just started ranking them.”

“And what do the different ranks stand for?” Desmond questions again, standing up and stretching. His body had grown stiff from remaining in the Animus for too long.

“One is ‘barely fazes me’ and five is ‘still makes me cry to sleep at night.” Candace answers with a chuckle.

“Yes, and as I believe you haven’t gotten past two.” Shaun interjects, turning just long enough to say this. “Or am I mistaken?”

“Oh, okay, how’s this for a two; You couldn’t even get past first base with Kitty-Kat! Prude!” Candace shot back instantly. Shaun’s jaw dropped and he shot an accusatory glare at Rebecca who shrugged.

“What? Did I not say she was at the lunch with Kate, too?”

Shaun’s mouth closed and he focused on Candace once again; “You have a very bright career ahead of you as a stripper. What with the stripper name already picked out, Candy-Cane.”

Amusement danced in Candace’s eyes at this though she still felt insulted and attempted to pull off the appalled look, allowing her jaw to drop as she stared at Shaun. The audacity of him! “I’m gonna go cry in this corner now! Thanks.”

“I’m to assume that’s a five, then?” Shaun chuckled.

“Shaun’s got latrine duty!” Rebecca cried out. Lucy looked up, amusement on her face as well as she had been listening in the entire time.

“Deal!”

“Oh, yes. Of course, you’d say that, Lucy.” Shaun snorts, turning back around in defeat. “Women.”
