Oz was a master of smiling. It kept everyone around him happy if he continued to smile, so why not?

He smiled when he was happy and he smiled when he was hurting.

Why should he burden the others with the things that crushed him? The things that weighed down heavily on his heart and mind, tore away at old mental scabs and made them bleed all over again. The very events and memories that made the boy's heart ache....

But it were these burdens that he had to shoulder himself, so that the others could continue to smile.

Alice, Gilbert, Sharon, Break.... Everyone. They all deserved to be happy without knowing what was paining him, so why bring it up if it wasn't important to matters at hand?

So, taking a deep breath Oz steeled himself in front of the mirror as he pulled on his shirt and vest, tying the tie loosely about his neck as always.

Another day, another smile!

The smile spread over his face easily, emerald eyes alight with false joy for the day ahead even though his head and heart were once again in turmoil.

Besides, Oz believed that one day, if he continued to smile, maybe the pain inside him would just vanish against that false joy.

So Oz quickly made his way out of the bathroom, through the room and out into the hallway, ready to greet Alice and Gilbert - usually the first two to meet him in the mornings, after all. Today would be a good day, even if this would be true for everyone but Oz.
