Wally trudged in the door in the late afternoon, looking incredibly dead for a college science researcher. Dick looked up from the couch at his boyfriend and muffled a laugh, "Damn, that rough?"

"It was terrible. Halfway through my research in the lab I was asked to fill in for a class. They wanted me to teach a class for the day! It was terrible," Wally exclaimed and collapsed on the couch beside Dick.

"They are adults so I'm sure they werent that misbehaved," Dick said with a shrug yet still sympathetically put a hand on his boyfriend's shoulder.

"Oh it wasnt the students. It was the other professors. A second professor ended up in the classroom with me just as extra supervision and criticized everything I told these kids. I've never met a more biased man in my life," Wally exclaimed.

Dick smiled, "Well, it's not like you will be teaching the class again." Wally adopted an almost guilty look. Dick noticed and sighed, "Tell me what's up."

Wally took in a breathe before starting, "I actually liked them. They're adults and responsible and lots are actually engaged in pursuing science. I'd kind of like to teach them." Dick looked at Wally in surprise. Yeah, Wally loved science, but to be completely honest Wally specifically didnt want to teach because he didnt want to deal with stupid people.

After a moment of deliberation Dick responded, "Well, go for it then. Finish up your research since you already got the grant and apply next semester to teach. By then I'm sure you can get some assistant teaching under your belt or some substitute work." Wally threw his arms around Dick and pressed several kisses to the younger's cheek.

"You're the best, y'know that?" Wally said brightly.

"Yeah, yeah, but you have to let go. I have to get to work," Dick said with a smirk.

"Why did they stick you with the worst shifts? You'll be missing dinner for weeks," Wally asked with a sigh.

"I may not be brand new to police force but I'm still a transfer, and from Gotham PD of all places. They're probably trying to see what I can do for a little while before letting me take the better shifts," Dick said and picked up his badge and gun, "I'll see you around midnight babe."

Hours Later

Wally shot awake on the couch as he heard the door open rather loudly. Dick walked in smiling. "A cop in one of the worst cities in the world and you come home looking like that," Wally commented sarcastically.

Dick rolled his eyes, "It is just like hero work Wally. We save people."

"What's today's story," Wally asked as he spotted the clock starting 1am on the wall.

Dick caught him glancing at the clock and sighed, "Yeah, I'm a little late. Well, the story isnt a good one but I am happy I saved her. I was just conducting a traffic stop for some teenagers and I spotted this girl on the roof. I immediately called it in and I ran through the building and to the roof. I ended up talking her down. Her name was Emily. She's an abuse victim but at least she is safe now."

"I'm dating a hero," Wally said and wrapped his arms around Dick.

"Speaking of, we should get to patrol," Dick said, ignoring Wally's kisses on his neck.

"First I want to tear that uniform off you," Wally whispered.

Dick smirked but still chastised Wally, "I only have a few of these so don't destroy it. I'll promise to make it up for you though."
