"How bad is it hurting? Like 1-10."

"It's a solid nine, Mike."

"Well, shit, you probably tore something."

"Ya think?"

"Ey, Captain don't get smart with me."

Chris chuckled and shook his head, leaning back against the gym wall and wincing. "It was my fault anyway, I shouldn't have pushed that hard," he muttered. "God damn it."

"Should we call someone?"

"Maybe. Yeah."

"I..." Chris trailed off, closing his eyes and leaning his head back.

"Sorry...I couldn't help but overhear, is everything okay?" he heard a female voice say.

"My buddy here tore something possibly. He's in a lot of pain."

"Oh, I'm – I'm a doctor, I could help maybe?"

"Chris, hey, she can help figure out what's wrong."

One eye opened and he was blinded by incoming sunlight. Chris blinked a few times then was stunned.

"Holy shit," he murmured, gazing up at a woman hovering over him, sunlight flooding behind her and lighting her up. He felt like Prince fucking Eric when he first sees Ariel.

In other words, she was pretty hot.

"You okay?" she asked, her deep brown skin glowing like gold.

"I dunno, but I'm starting to feel a bit better."

"Well if he can awkwardly flirt he's feeling better," his trainer said.

"Shut up, Mike," Chris muttered.

"What's your name?" she asked. Was it a good thing or a bad thing she didn't know who he was?

"Chris," he answered. "You're a doctor, right?"

"Yeah, I'm Simone," she said.

"Simone...that's a beautiful name."

"Thank you." She smiled. "I'm named after Nina Simone."

"Why aren't you named Nina?"

"Because that's my sister's name." She chuckled. "Where are you feeling the pain?"

"In my shoulder."

"Okay, can you lean forward for me, Chris?" He did his best and Simone slid her hand under his shirt, feeling around his shoulder. "Okay, well you definitely popped a tendon. Can you stand?" He nodded and slowly rose up to his feet, letting a deep breath out. "I was on my way to work, all my stuff is there but meet me at Boston Memorial and I'll patch you up, okay? Just ask for Doctor Ray."

He nodded. "Thanks."

"No problem." She gave him a smile and sauntered out of the gym after speaking with the man at the front desk briefly.

"C'mon, dumbass," Mike said, helping Chris limp to his car.

"She was stunning, huh?"

"Yeah, she was, I mean, if I wasn't married...."

"Simone Ray. She sounds like... like a goddess."

"Alright, lover boy, let's get you to the hospital."

Twenty minutes later, they arrived through the hospital doors and went straight for the front desk.

"Hi, we're looking for Doctor Simone Ray? She sent us here," Mike told her.
