The One

XVI

Its been a week since my birthday and it is currently November 29th, or Taehwans birthday. My mom, like she promised Tae, did come home for dinner for my birthday and she took the day off for Tae. Her pay wont be as good as normal, but were both important to her, she said she doesnt mind if she missed work for a day or two.

"Bi," my mom called softly once I walked downstairs into the kitchen. "Tae likes your french toast, can you make him some before he wakes up?"

I nodded, still slightly dazed from having just waking up. But I grabbed a pan, butter, bread, eggs, bowl and fork. I began making the simple breakfast, enough for all three of us to eat. Tae didnt want a big party for his birthday, he just wanted Seungmin, Hani, Changmin and Jisung to come over. Of course they all agreed instantly, and theyd be here later on.

"Okay," I called out softly to gain my moms attention. "Its finished. Oh, thanks mom." I smiled, grasping the warm mug of Cuban coffee I wad handed.

We put it on a plate, made a large cup of chocolate milk, some yogurt and mom started carrying it upstairs. Outside Taehwans room, we counted before opening the door and singing happy birthday. Tae woke up, plushy falling to the floor and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He started smiling happily and clapped along. Once the song ended, mom set the plate on the side table and picked up Tae, blowing a raspberry on his stomach.

"Happy birthday Tae," I ruffled his hair up.

"Sissy," Tae cheered. "Are they coming?"

"Yes," my mom answered. "They are. I have to pick Changmin up soon, so you and Bi will be here alone for a bit."

"Can I come?" Tae asked. "Please mommy, I want to come."

My mom pretended to think before agreeing. Tae cheered happily, before he was set on his bed to eat. He was told to get ready after breakfast so he could head out with mom. Texting Jisung, Hani and Seungmin I asked if they could come early, but only Seungmin could.

"Mom," I called, tossing my phone on my bed and walking down the hall. "Min is coming over now."

She yelled something back, and I walked back towards my room. Seungmin would be here soon, but I needed to get ready. Sending him a quick, text, I grabbed clothes and towels before walking into the bathroom. In the middle of showering I heard the door open and Seungmin call out, gaining no response as my mom had taken Taehwan already. I quickly finished my shower, drying off and brushing my teeth before getting dressed in sweatpants and an old, faded t-shirt. Grabbing all my other belongings, I tossed the dirty clothes in the laundry bin before walking into my room.

"Min," I called out. He only hummed. "Im sleepy. Cuddle?"

"Call Jisung," he teased and I frowned before laying down. "He's your boyfriend."

"But youre my best friend," I tried. Seungmin rolled his eyes but caved, and wrapped his arms and a blanket around us. "This is why you're my favorite."

"Oh shut up," he flicked my nose, and laughed. 

I grabbed my laptop from off the floor, and logged in. Going to YouTube, I searched up random videos as we waited for everyone to arrive, and for Tae, my mom and Changmin to come back. Time dragged on, and an hour passed before I heard the front door open and shut, followed by the happy squealing of Taehwan and Changmin running upstairs. They threw my door open, and immediately ran to jump on my bed. 

"Tae," Seungmin sat up before they could jump on him, and scared the birthday boy in the process. "Happy birthday buddy."

"Seungmin," Tae and Changmin both cheered, tackling him in hugs. I rolled my eyes playfully before sitting up against my headboard.
