So, this is the girl that has my adopted and actual son all protective like. I give Liam a hug and ask is I can sit with her. I feel something in the pit of my stomach. It is strange, it's some kind of pull. The closer I get to her, the stronger the pull. The strange feeling shifts all the way up to my heart. It is changing into something more, more protective, more of a sense of familiarity, like family.
That just doesn't make sense at all. The child is covered in bandages and I can smell that she is still human. The boys are talking quietly in the corner while eating. I just shake my head at them and tune them out all together. I softly place my hand on her wrist and my wolf is all ready protective of her. It's like she is one of my pups, just laying here, all broken. My wolf, Alice, whimpers and wants me to hold her closer. I look all over at her and I can not see how I can do that without hurting her. Alice howls at that, but she understands that our new pup needs to get well first.
New pup.... Liam's mate. Is it maybe that? Being his mate? Is it that what's got Alice and myself so protective of her?
My hand travels to her hair. What a beautiful color. Her wolf will be unique. There are not many red heads in the werewolf history. The ones that she had seen, were more like carrot tops, but this pup. She has a true deep red with natural highlights. Her hair is dull at the moment, but I think it will be beautiful when she is up and about.
I nudge Alice to come forward. I know that it is to soon to know if she has a wolf yet. A born werewolf, has their wolf since birth. Made werewolves only get theirs after the first full moon.
I lean over and let Alice's sense of smell take over. Nothing. Yet there is something familiar....
Liam and Jeremy is suddenly right next to me.
"Mom, you feel it too?" Jeremy asks with his head tilted to the side.
"Yes...." I breathe out.
"What are you two talking about?" Liam asked with worry written all over his face and his body language screams panic.
"We feel a pull towards her...." I start, but Liam cuts me off.
"What do you mean? She's MINE!" He roars and pushes Jeremy and me away from her.
"Calm down, Liam..." I started to say but I can see that he's wolf has taken over and his calm beautiful blue-green eyes change to a glowing golden color.
I lift my arms up in surrender and take a step back, while bearing my neck to him.
His eyes shifts back and forth. It is hard for me to see him struggle with his wolf. "It's okay, Liam. We are leaving." I take Jeremy's arm and pull him backwards with me to the door. I let him leave before me and quietly close the door.
"Mom..." comes the quiet painful voice from the man I raised as my own.
